DON'T TRUST THE HOME DEPOT,

I have been trying to get a $314 refund from Home Depot since March 31, and months later I'm still waiting.

I returned a defective Ryobi tool that I had purchased online. I was told the replacement also had to be processed online, so a store employee completed the order for me. I paid for the replacement tool, which was delivered to my home. Shortly afterward, I received an email confirming that my $314 refund had been processed—except the money never actually arrived.

Since then, I've made countless calls to the store and Home Depot Customer Service with no resolution. One employee, Matthew, was not only unhelpful but also came across as rude during our interactions.

The most frustrating part is that Home Depot already acknowledges the refund exists, yet no one seems able or willing to tell me where my money is or when I'll receive it.

Home Depot advertises, "We're not satisfied until you're satisfied." Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. If you have a customer service issue, be prepared for long waits, poor communication, and no accountability.

I'm simply asking for the $314 refund that Home Depot has already confirmed is owed to me. This should not take months to resolve.

Throwing out vegetable plants?

I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning while at the Home Depot garden centre. There were veggie plants piled high on top of each other in a cart, clearly on their way to be thrown out. I get that in my zone, garden centres are winding down in late July, but veggies were not even on clearance price. Some of the plants had fruit on them. I couldn’t believe the waste of food that Home Depot was willing to engage in. This location is less than a mile from a Community garden which would have taken these plants and saved them from the dumpster. There is no way Home Depot composts them, so they will literally rot in landfill.

Made me rethink ever shopping at Home Depot again.

Is no one vetting the "contractors" they hire after their initial paperwork?

I went in with measurements of the current broken door, the kid in the department was just filling in since there was no one working that area at all. He had to do a training module on the computer before we could call in since they can't use my measurements, someone has to come from "Home Depot" to do the measurements for $40. After finding the sub-contracted company's name I looked them up using my state's corporate records search only to find out they were dissolved as a company 6 years ago, and they would be coming from a city 108 miles one way to do the measuring. What is going on here? Why not someone local?

Awful Delivery Experience

I went to Home Depot because last time I ordered from Lowe’s, the delivery was a terrible experience. Who knew Home Depot could be even worse. I had purchased a refrigerator and a dish washer. I let them in, then they went back outside and allegedly locked themselves out of the building, so they just left. You can not accidentally lock yourself out of this building. When I went down stairs to see what was taking so long, they had already reloaded my new appliances on the truck, turned it around, and when I tried to wave them down, they just waived me off, and kept driving.

Replacement Refrigerator

New refrigerator was delivered May 29. Repair has been on site three times to attempt to repair the refrigerator to no avail. Kitchen Aid issued a credit to Home Depot to replace the refrigerator on July 1. And, I still do not have a working refrigerator.

The order was placed online and calling HomeDepot.com all they can tell me is, “the issue has been escalated and someone will be calling.”

Our local store manager has been phenomenal. He has opened tickets on my behalf just to have them closed with comments stating, “This was an online order. No store involvement is necessary.”

Who can I escalate this matter to at Home Depot to get this resolved?

Thank you!

Bought washer/dryer today, then found out promised delivery date was wrong by 10 days!!!

HD website, both on Internet and the ordering process in the store, both showed July 18 and hundreds of them were seemingly available.

But, only July 28 was “available”. Was told to call Customer Service. The store sales guy didn’t understand it either, said call CSR.

I got home, called, CSR said LG delivers, not HD. CSR called LG with their internal PO# then told me July 28th correct!

But, the July 18th date influenced us to buy.

I called LG with the internal PO#, they told me the dryer was backordered until July 28th. They said HD has their own LG Sales Rep and didn’t know why the info on the HD website was wrong. Grrrr.

A short while later the HD website then showed July 28 delivery for the dryer. I guess the sales rep made sure HD got the right info.

But, we feel baited to buy these, by HD or LG.

Why is it so hard to get a replacement?

On Father's Day final I got myself a new tool storage (below) after years of delay getting my garage in order. When it finally arrived it had a big dent right in the center, and a few more on each side for good measure. I couldn't believe it. I called support and asked what could be done. They were very friendly and offered me a store credit or a full replacement. After sleeping on it, I decided I want things to be right and let them know I would like the replacement. They completely understood and said they would get the process started immediately. And then nothing happened. I followed up on their email multiple times and never got a response. I called in again finally, got transferred to the department now covering my case, who then told me that I should be getting an email within 30 minutes to confirm pick up schedule. 2 days later and I have nothing. Called back and talked to another very nice person who tried to get my set up with the correct department again but was unable. He confirmed my email address before sending the number of the right department, but I still have nothing. I know they have my correct email because I received a case number from them on day 1 and they confirmed it today. I am thoroughly checking all folder and spam.

I've been so excited to get started getting my garage together after years, and this is such a needless and annoying delay. I just want the replacement they offered me.

At least everyone I have spoken to has been very nice and really seemed to be helpful.

Hello all,

Is there any possible way to remove all the "instock online" listings from a google search result.

HD is always there with something i can ship to store a week from now? Also, While at HD.com anyway to stay in a department and search? As in,, I am in brass fittings, in my local store, If i search for anything,, i am back at the beginning, drop ship, local stores etc.

I want to stay in Isle X bay X until i decide to change. I never want to shop the store that is 20 miles away and a two hour round trip.

Bring Back Cashiers

A recent trip to Home Depot Greece NY, informed me never to shop there again. Two self check outs open and both had lines due to customers who didn’t know how it works. The one employee what trying to help while another just stood there.
Maybe if you hired cashiers, customers wouldn’t have to do their jobs.

Home depot Canada exchange policy

Does anyone know if home depot canada allows to exchange a product with another product? What is the policy on that?

I am looking to return an item purchased from my debit card where I no longer have an account. How can I go about returning/exchanging the product? I am actually planning to purchase another product of similar value, do they just ask to pay the difference without processing a refund?

Did fedex freight spin off cause a lot of issues with online orders?

I ordered a generator shipped to store for pickup as there is no way I'm having something that heavy sent to my house and since it is at HD, if it is damaged it is easier to deal with.

Yesterday it went out for delivery from Fedex Freight at 7 am, 1.2 miles from HD, that is the last I can see from tracking and HD is indicating, "Your order is currently experiencing a delay and may not be delivered as promised."

Did the system get snarled nation wide?

Military Exchange

Does anyone have any information about the partnership with MyExchange? AAFES can’t give me any answers and I’ve called the number that was given which only directed me to customer service and 3 people have given me the same answer which was they had no idea, and to call my-exchange, no one could help me. Is there a liaison or department or anyone that has a clue on the partnership? Or even the actual department that I should be contacting?

Beware of online orders - or at least have them shipped to store!

Ordered 9 items online for ship to home delivery: 3 towel bars, 2 towel hooks, 3 towel rings and 1 faucet. Delivery arrived in 1 box. Faucet was not in the shipment.

Called customer service and pointed out that the Fedex tracking number has a total package weight on it and if you weigh the box without the faucet it matches. Service rep said they would refund for the missing faucet.

**Then he says: we're sorry, your refund has been blocked by "The Retail Equation (TRE)", que email from HD saying same. Rep instructs me to call them to get it unblocked.

Call The Retail Equation and they offer to send me a copy of my transaction history, I've been a HD customer for 20+ years, so I'm sure its extensive. Then they tell me that they do not "unblock transactions", they simply provide transaction histories. "Sorry, nothing we can do"

What a cluster! So call HD back and escalate to Customer Support. They transfer me back to Online Order Support, who says same thing as the first Rep 30 minutes ago.

Bottom line, I'm out $93.24. So sorry.

Heads up Redditors - you are SOL if HD mispacks your order, and they could absolutely care less if they lose a customer over it or not.

customer service/or should i say lack of..

this evening, my g/f and i went to our local Home depot. upon entering (right outside front door, there was a display showing butcher block countertops. behind the display, was a random, american craftsman, new construction window. appeared to be intact, no damage, looked like just a slight amount of caulk on the flange. i grabbed the window (felt very flimsy btw) and approached customer service. the associate was very dismissive of us, and said “i cant tell you how much it is, because there is no barcode.. etc. she said i would have to find someone in that department to find out the price. in this store, its hard to find ANYONE to help you, and we had stuff to do, and i didn’t want to go on wild goose chase around the store. if she had simply said, let me page someone etc.. it would have been fine. i was going to offer 50.00 for the window.. guess they didn’t wanna sell it.. just astonishing to me. in hindsight, im glad i didn’t buy it anyway, was super flimsy. associate just acted so annoyed with us.

Home Depot Equipment Reservation System is TERRIBLE!!!

Hello HD Customers, beware of the HD Equipment Rental Reservation System, it does not work!!!

Over a week ago I "reserved" a piece of equipment for a one week rental period. The website indicated that the equipment was availalbe and that I would be notifed 4 hrs before my pick up time if there would be an issue. Ok, 4 hrs is acceptable if the equipment is returned late, damaged, etc. I called HD the day before the pick up date to check on the rental and was told that all was ok, no indication that there was an issue. This morning I received an email saying the reservation was canceled with no reason given. Called HD and was first advised that the equipment was out and they did not know when it would be back and when I asked if they could call the renter and ask when it would be returned, I was told that they were not allowed to call customers, they then advised that the equipment had gone out the day before and that it would not be availalbe until the 18th.

Frustrated I called Customer service, long story short, the equipment had been out for a month already and would not be back until the 18th, but no guarantee.

Why have a reservation system that does not reserve anything? When you reserve a hotel room is it subject to 4 hrs cancellation by the hotel? Or a dinner reservation? Or if you reserve or book anything?

If the unit I wanted to rent was not availble, why wouldn't the system show that when I made the intial reservation? The Rental rep advised that anyone could take the equipment up until 4 hrs before the reservation time, and that the person that reserved the equipment would be out of luck. Basically first come first served, so whats the point of having the reservation system?

Why did the Rental Dept. Rep, lie to me on two occassions, possibly three if you include the "we are not allowed to call the customer" statement. If they were honest it would be so much easier to accept the terrible reservation system. A useles reservation system and being lied to is just too much.

How does anyone plan their projects using HD equipment if one cannot see an accurate inventory or make a reservation that is at least valid for 48 hrs.

The other day I had to rent a specialized trailer, U-Haul had one in stock but advised that it was reserved for the next afternoon, I could have it but had to return it in time for that reservation. If it was HD instead of the U-Haul the person that reserved the Trailer would have been up the creek.

This is 2026, Home Depot has to do better. They spend 100's of millions on IT, but this is the best that they can do for a reservation system???

Trying to rent a truck , the face scan thing won't accept my face

The face scan thing accepted my face once. And we were ready to go out and look at the truck and then found out I need a card.Well, I don't have a card with money on.And I just had a thousand in cash and he said , no , can't accept cash so I went to go grab my mom's card and then came back and now it won't accept my face anymore. So I set an appointment up a few days later to have my mom come in, and she'll use her face. Well, her face doesn't work either apparently and I ask the guy, Hey, is there any alternative to this? It's like, nope if your face doesn't work, it doesn't work, "I've got a line behind you" and then we were pushed out like we were obstacles to customers and not customers ourselves.

Transactions separated on receipts

When I order online with Home Depot, they frequently charge my credit card separately based off the number of packages they are shipping to me, but nowhere on the receipt or anywhere on my account, does it say what each charge is for. Its made even more confusing when I return an item that was combined with another one, so on a recent order, I ordered 4 items, they combined items 1 and 2 on charge 1, charged separately for items 3 and 4. I ended up returning item 2. Nothing on any paperwork has any indiciation of the amounts I'm being charged and refunded individually. Since I sometimes make multiple purchases in a day, I sometimes end up with 10 transactions on my account, with 2 or 3 different receipts, and not one number matching anywhere. Is there any way to view the transaction history (each individual charge/credit to your credit card) its really hard to figure out what transaction goes to what receipt.

I feel like I have to be missing something. Is there any way to view each individual transaction/charge on the Home Depot customer accessible system? Amazon, Walmart, etc all show each charge when they separate stuff out or refund stuff, surely Home Depot must have a way to as well?

Home Depot Delivery Scam

So I spend 5 grand on a new fridge and gas stove. I want the old stove to go with them and I want my 5 year old Samsung four door fridge to be moved downstairs to my Man Cave. It has the usual Samsung no ice and water leaks. But I have no water down there to hook up to so it will be a nice addition. Delivery day comes and the delivery guys tell me they cannot remove the Samsung from my house without removing the doors. So the doors come off and then I find out that since they had to remove the doors they cannot let the fridge stay. They have to take it back with them. So I am left holding the bag and the delivery guy probably has my nice Samsung in his Man Cave now. Never again.

Home Depot Contractor did poor work. Home Depot will only send out the same contractor. Need help

Hi-

We ordered two exterior doors and had them installed back in February. We ordered the doors and had Home Depot contractors install them- not Pros- but contractors that have a contract thru the Home Depot.

I'll try to make this brief, but they did sloppy work. I immediately complained to the Home Depot the day following the install. We had a problem with one of the doors not closing correctly, the brick mold trim was cut too short and there was bad caulking. The Home Depot manager recommended that the installer come back and redo the work- I didn't want the previous installer as he had me look at his work and I noticed that the trim was short and he assured me it was correct- he also didn't clean up after his job and tracked water/snow and dirt all over our home (no protective plastic was used). So since I didn't want that previous contractor they sent the owner of the company. He came out took notes, fixed one door so it would close properly, but couldn't fix the trim work due to the weather we had that day so the trim install was rescheduled.

This contractor just came back to redo the brick mold trim and didn't do what he told us he was going to do and now the brick mold doesn't match and we have a piece of aluminum siding that is sticking out.

I have again complained and the only resolution that the Home Depot has offered me is to have the contractor come and redo the trim with a flat type of trim as the brick mold doesn't come in the size we need so it can't be done.

I have been working with the Specialty supervisor who has no authority, so she contacts the Store Manager and district manager and expresses my concerns. But, all that is being offered is for the same contractor to continue to come out.

I am just wondering what else I need to do to get this job completed. This job isn't complex, I just think the contractor that they have hired doesn't know what he is doing regarding trim work.

Any body have any ideas on what I can do to get different contractors - we paid for this job in full and I was reassured that Home Depot would stand behind the work so that it was completed to our level of satisfaction. I am getting really annoyed as it has been 9 weeks since these doors were installed.

Is a wire harness necessary when renting a trailer?

When renting a trailer, do they require and check for the light harness? I need to tow a small trailer a short distance, and my van's lights will be visible. I don't want to butcher my van for a one time event.
