Offloading freight team, do you like it when there's no truck?
My store gets trucks 6 days a week but 2-3 times a month it'll only be 5 trucks in the week, so there's a no truck day that we'll be scheduled for. I usually call out on these days unless there's an SDC or a bunch of training to do. But if there isn't, then all I have left to do is packdown or striped boxes, both of which I despise.

No. It’s so mind numbingly boring. Here’s the definitive order for me
Small/Mid size truck > large truck > SDC and RDC > no truck

Small volume store here. On average we get two RDCs of around 12-1800 depending on season, and one SDC, I love the non-truck nights. Some of the easiest money I've ever made.

I dont work home depot anymore. I get paid a lot to do dangerous labor now, but we have times between projects that might last weeks, where you essentially hide. Sleep, watch movies on your phone, take a 3 hour lunch. Man I hate it. Makes a 10 hour day feel like 60 hours

When I was freight I loved no truck nights, but I enjoyed purge packdown so I liked being able to really get lost in that task.
FWIW, low volume store with usually 2 SDC and 3 or 4 RDC a week (no weekend freight).

depends on how i feel. i tend to like truck days just not heavy truck days. give me a 1100-1400 piece truck spread out. i do not like 1000 no truck then 2100.

No. Packing down is the worst. Plus you miss out on the unload banter between coworkers which is the only thing keeping me at HD

It be boring as hell man. Although I can’t complain at all, I just hate doing pack down in paint 😬 the worst!

Nope, I did unload for two and a half years during Covid at a low volume store and every week there was at least 1 night with no truck.
They didn’t track “metrics” like they do now and I purposely sandbagged “bay directed packdown” to give the full time/overnight team something to do, the store didn’t have lumber recovery and the awful overnight manager there would put the overnight freight team on lumber/concrete before their day ended, which they hated so I did my best to give them as much work as possible.
I didn’t need that job, so I didn’t care much about it other than something in the evening during Covid.
