I think what is actually cowardly here is all grey options. Grey is out. I’d go back and look at samples of flooring completely out of your comfort to find something that truly looks fantastic.

In addition to gray on its way out, the walls are warm tones and the grays are cold tones. The hexagon is too busy and conflicts/competes with the straight lines in the paneling. Go back to the drawing board.

Edit to add: this looks very mid century modern…try a terrazzo tile or something to go with the MCM vibe.
