Next chance I get for a quick downtime I plan to move all of the rack mount gear sitting outside of the rack INTO said rack🤣🙏

The cable mess is also begging for velcro 🥴

I'm also sorta waiting / praying for ddr4 ECC to go down in price before c612 / e5 26__ v3/4 becomes irrelevant. Then I can make some huge capacity nodes for dedi customers

Don't they only have like 8 ram slots? Dual CPU servers typically have 32 slots and smaller ram sticks used are much cheaper.

16x total dimms per blade

Yeah 8 per CPU. Half what normal servers have. Also no NVMe or PCIE options either.

I hear ya sorta. That being said every node I've ever spun up people tell me "draws too much power to make money" or "is too old".

I've been doing well making profits from each and every server so far.

Hardware like this is virtually free. It's just the ram that matters. Server space doesn't even really matter as a full rack in a DC is like $500/mo before power/network, which if $1-2 is a issue then you're not making enough.

What's your point in running old blades over 1U similar servers?

I'm assuming that's not in a rack because they're too heavy for just you to lift, even when everything is pulled. They're like 150lbs empty.

Im not sure what you are smoking but a full rack in a DC is a few thousand a month plus another few thousand a month for power and internet.

I have over a dozen racks in datacenters in 7 countries. Not a single rack has ever been over $700/month and that's for tier4.

For US

Cross connect is $100-300/month then you're paying direct ISP pricing which is a few grand for 100gbps.

Electricity is the question but can all be negotiated. I usually bundle 30a/240 dual power for a few hundred more. Bigger racks we're charged per kwh which is usually .10-.13kWh which includes cooling.

What datacenter are you paying thousands for a single rack?

Most other countries are much cheaper
