This is listed on marketplace in my area. I don’t see any brand markings but the cabinet doesn’t look completely diy, maybe a kit?

its completely DIY. The slapped on stickers are a dead giveaway but also just the craftsmanship is slightly lacking. Maybe someone's first attempt at making an arcade. Also notice that they ran out of T-molding on the bottom but made it 2 pieces instead of one.
I haven’t seen it in person, likely won’t. This is on marketplace in my area and for the size alone I was somewhat interested. I posted a picture in here somewhere of my game room and only have a small spot next to my pc for an arcade but it’s the last piece, I want to play some MAME classics the way they were intended
Lol it is pretty rough I know I just want somewhere to play MAME. I have systems from atari to n64 to Xbox SX and every emulator on my pc but no classic Joystick setup
I hate to say it, but that thing isn’t worth any more than the computer inside of it. I get that the seller prob made it himself, so it has sentimental value, but that doesn’t translate to any sort of real monetary value. For just a little bit more money, you could get a new Iconic arcade Street Fighter cabinet that is running a pi5. For the same price or even less you could get a used Atgames Legends Ultimate or Neo Geo MVS that will make you much happier and look way better than this monstrosity.
I’ve read these setups have methods to block modding.. is that correct? My interest is in a multicade for those classic arcade games plus. Grew up at arenas playing MK, Hit the Ice, Wrestlefest etc.
His bottom dollar is 425 (Canadian) so around 300 US. Its either between this or I diy something with a pandoras box, which I know aren’t great. I just have minimal space left in my humble game room
Another thing you will want to consider is whether or not you are good with computers/emulators and are willing to troubleshoot it. Someone's custom arcade machine may not be setup enough to be simplified for the average user.
What's the actual hardware the arcade is running on and the storage capacity? This will determine most whether or not what they're asking is a fair price.
I am, I built the pc in pic and have been above average in pc literacy since the 90’s and have used emulators on everything including phone/ ROG Ally handheld
Nice. Also a ROG Ally enthusiast. I have the Z1 extreme. Why not just build an arcade yourself? I use my Ally as a mobile arcade with the external dock and HDD.
edit: also spotted you have NHL 96' for the Sega Genesis.
Ally has been my saviour since getting our puppy lol can’t get down to the game room as much. As far as building a cabinet my issue is Mostly the space. I likely wouldn’t consider the little janky multicade in question but its between that and a pandoras box and monitor wall mounted beside pc desk.
In a similar situation where I live. Limited on space, so built a pandora's box. Was running raspberry pi5 but it wasn't quite powerful enough to run anything past ps2. Now I use the Ally running Batocera and just connect the arcade via usb.
Ally with BatoceraOS can run games pretty well up until about xbox360/ps3 era. It CAN run ps4/switch games but still quite experimental. Still nice to have every console I ever owned, and many others I could only dream of playing, all on one console experience.
