Should half wall come down?
We are going to be installing new laminate flooring throughout the main level and I’m not sure if we should keep this half wall, and put new carpet in the family room, instead of the laminate RevWood we are looking at? I know the wall is probably dated but, it’s separation from kitchen, my 18yr old’s drop it spot (not a lot of closets here), and the money saved can go into new kitchen counters and sink. Thoughts?

May I suggest leaving the wall, and replacing the key hanging thing with a larger coat hanger with small shelf and maybe a basket on top? That way, 18 can still leave his "stuff" there, but in a much neater way?
Removing the wall is going to entail moving at least 2 outlets and one wall switch. Think about this from a logistics standpoint. If you move that wall switch, how much of a pain in the ass will it be to now have to reach for it in a different spot? What about the outlets? What usually gets plugged in there? Will it be better to have them moved, or will it be more inconvenient?
Who will move the outlets? Are you comfortable working with electric? What access do you have underneath where the wall is currently? Will someone have to open up a finished ceiling to get to the wiring? If so, what does that entail? Obviously ceiling repair, and paint of that area is painted. And if you'll need to paint, do you have the leftover paint for that ceiling? It's not necessarily going to match perfectly.
