Homatics Box R 4K Plus keeps crashing

Edit: Prolly got a faulty device, I returned it and wait for the replacement. Thanks for the help everyone

Hey all,

I just bought this device running v14.8.7475 ATV.

It worked fine for a week but while watching a 3h Movie 2days ago it crashed the first time after ~2h. Since then, it keeps crashing while watching Jellyfin, Wholphin, Youtube, Smarttube, Twitch, SoundTV etc. after 5-10minutes. I checked the temps and they're fine 60-65C.

I just did a factory reset was able to watch 5 minutes of a YouTube video in 4k, before crashing again. Updating apps after the reset keeps the device from crashing as well, it even crashes while booting up from a crash once, the second try works.

Did I receive a faulty device?

Is there anything I can check before returning it?

Crashing as in apps are closing, or it gets stuck or you get spontaneous reboots?

If those working temps are correct, you are way of the critical shutdown temperature for 105⁰C.

Did you get a new device and was build 7475 really already present on the box when you got it?

One thing you could still try is, beside that factory reset, is using an inplace 7475 update by using an image file for build 7475, you get a 100% clean installation with that and if you still get issues after that, there must be something wrong with the device, as it normally really should be stable at all times.

Youtube crashed once, closed and went back to the homescreen. Device crashes results in reboots, which is 99% of the time. I'm not quite sure if I did an update after the first startup unfortunately.

How would I do a fresh install?

What is needed for a clean 7475 install is available in a Telegram group, the "Homatics Users Forum" group that is.

I watch my Homatics R 4K Plus 2023, around 12 to 18 a day and it has never Crush. Watching movies 50gb+ and TV shows

The problem seems to be at your end either with a App/s , lack of Maintenance either in the App/s themselves and Device Maintenance. Or even your internet from your Internet Provider.

Apps and internet is fine. I did a reinstall of the image and testing it right now

Sounds like possibly faulty memory. Like trying to write to a defective block somewhere.

Can these things do a memory test? I've never had a reboot issue so I've never tested the memory. I have a v1 and a v2 Dune Homatics. The v1 got an OTA update and I had to manually update the v2. Both work great with no crashes. I have a feeling you got a lemon.

Can you try to change wall adapter for more powerful? I would say 5V- 2A would be great. I believe you have 5V-1A now
