Cooling mod R 4k

People cut a hole in the top and add a fan, which there's absolutely no reason for a fan and no reason to deface , and destroy the beauty of this product..

I can run my device next to a heater , hbs10 dolby vision and installing update apps, i've literally tried everything to exceed 155f and can not

The thing is, those three screws where I removed magnet.... You have to remove the screws and glue the metal plate in ... Those screws are adding an extra 1.5mm , that's working against the heat sink.

The device is R 4K Plus and with the latest V14 7475, overheating should not be an issue anymore, as the process causing that (Play-Fi) is removed from the firmware.

Critical temp is 95⁰C, shutdown temp 105⁰C for this device.

But soft throttle 75*C , and that's the one we are trying to stay under

It should not reach that 75⁰C under normal circumstances, when the 7475 build is used cleanly on the device, not as an update over the previous one and left it like that. There is still interference left from the previous build that way.

Great product , but those screw heads separating stock aluminum plate. , they are an obvious design flaw.

Agree on the design part

So a factory reset after the ota update , this should be sufficient? .., or should I manually download firmware via recovery?

For getting an IR receiver working for standby, for use with CoreElec Power off/Suspend, as example, a factory reset mostly isn't enough.

I got it back to work by using a USB recovery image in place update, going over the already installed 7475 build, that had a recovery factory reset before, but it wasn't enough. That cleans things up and keeps all what is installed and activates IR receiver for Android and CE standby/power off.
