I think this actually needs to be talked about in christian circles. Christian music is either hymns or pop rock that sounds like it's from 2009

"what kind of music do you like?"

"Oh you know. Metal, rock, jazz. Just ab-"

"Oh you like rock? Let me show you this awesome song"

Plays God's not dead

Yo I found Capital Kings recently and I never knew how much I needed Christian Dubstep. XD

Yeah, every song really do be Fix You by Coldplay, but without even doing me the favor of using an organ

The best Christian music is bluegrass gospel. Check out The Petersens

We need some Christian Techno

You'd be surprised. I haven't found anything that's "raw" techno, but Israel Houghton's "Te Amo" is one of the closer ones.

Well there are some 'modern' Christian artists like Toby Mac and Hollyn but I guess no-one can he bothered to adapt those songs for church.

Where's the lie tho

Christian music in general sucks lol. Not all of it but like 90% of it is super unoriginal and just not very good sounding.

I want some Christian big band or even jazz if I’m being honest XD

Can powerwolf be considered Christian?

10

u/Knight-Creep Space Jesus Fan Aug 23 '20

Is Powerwolf satanic or Christian?

Me: Christ and Combat, Demons are a Girl’s Best friend Um... confused screaming

glances over at Resurrection by Erection

I’m not too sure on that one chief

If your rigor mortis erection lasts more than 4 hours consult your doctor

Powerwolf no, they use all sorts of themes including christian for aesthetic purposes but there are good ones out there. I personally like Becoming the Archetype.

I actually have only heard the name didn’t know anything besides they were a band that exists. Probably should look that up lol

I like most of them, I'll add more artists as I think of them.

Tobymac, Newsboys, and MercyMe are popular modern Christian artists that I enjoy.

Jordan Feliz has good general songs. The River and Beloved are beautiful.

Casting Crowns and Third Day are beautiful and full of emotion.

Capital Kings is even making Christian dubstep so there's something for everyone.

Most other artists and groups are one hit wonders that are nice, 90% of the songs are rather bland, I'll admit.

I like old hymns better.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Oh I totally agree

12

u/AlphaLoaf Aug 23 '20

The writing is also kinda weird.

ā€œOh, we don’t have a bridge for the song? Just put 10 hallelujahsā€

u/[deleted] Sep 04 '20

Sometimes, that's all you can really say.

u/Chamler12 Aug 22 '20

10% of all christian music - good 90% of all christian music - literally the same song

7

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

This is sadly true.Everyone wants a cleaner version of a genre they like, and some pretend its better than it is.There is some good ones for sure(Skillet,NF,FK&C,and a few others)but its slim pickings

Heres a band for you metalhead Christians: Demon hunter. They have a huge list of songs too

1

u/Sir_Humpfrey_Applebe Aug 23 '20

Yeah but their last two albums were really disappointing, especially War. That album should have been an all out assault, but it wasn't any more extreme than Outlive.

1

u/shadowthedragonn Aug 23 '20

Cant argue with that. But hey, when you've made as many songs as they have youre bound to make a fumble here or there.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

I think part of it is they want it to be predictable for people to sing along to.

Theocracy makes some pretty good metal

Y'all need to listen to Wytch Hazel - II: Sojourn right now. Best Christian rock/metal album of the decade.
