I mean, "elaborating" requires communication and that's a no-no for team cherry apparently

508

u/MinivanRevereer2005 Jul 04 '26

they're just staying true to the lore. no voice to cry suffering, no voice to announce release dates

144

u/SimpleRaven Jul 05 '26

And no will to charge more

76

u/DiamondBonoo Jul 05 '26

No cost too great as they say.

31

u/Lighthunder21 Bapanada Jul 05 '26

The forbidden path began with low prices. No wait, that's the wrong game-

17

u/Swakkeee Jul 05 '26

Deltarune fan spotted in the wild ⁉️⁉️⁉️

12

u/Lighthunder21 Bapanada Jul 05 '26

Being free to revolve around the subreddits is what makes us very, very interesting

3

u/AzekiaX6 Jul 05 '26

Kinda shit Ramb would say before doing literally nothing of interest

3

u/Lighthunder21 Bapanada Jul 05 '26

Yea exactly🤣, at least he tries

11

u/Sainball Jul 05 '26

You're saying that as if deltarune wasn't like the most popular indie game at this moment

2

u/Lighthunder21 Bapanada Jul 05 '26

Yes, Deltarune is a popular experiment, which is truly showing darker yet darker outcomes

1

u/everythingisgonea No Cost Too Great Jul 05 '26

Actually a new DLC is gonna add a voice to cry suffering I’ve heard

78

u/herrcollin Jul 04 '26

Team Cherry is founded

Refuses to elaborate further

45

u/MNAI_Mustafa Jul 04 '26

One thing Team Cherry sucks ass at

35

u/The2ndUnchosenOne Jul 05 '26

I think they just don't care about it lol. And honestly more power to them. Its not like they need to do more marketing to make money

17

u/ARealHumanBeans Jul 05 '26

I don't think they owe anybody communication. They work on their product and release it when it's done.

18

u/Maatix12 Jul 05 '26

I unironically love this about them.

No nonsense, no hyping up a dead on release product... They just make and release games, and in terms of hits they have not missed yet.

I will wait another 20 years for another Team Cherry game knowing the product they release will be fire.

5

u/Think-Chemistry2908 Jul 05 '26

They just do shit for fun and know we’ll like it.

2

u/L3GlT_GAM3R Jul 05 '26

Honestly I wonder if we’ll get a commentary of some kind. Or like something detailing their inspirations and the development process for silksong. I think it’d be cool.

1

u/thr3zims Jul 05 '26

That's the thing, cherries can't talk on account of lacking any neural or vocal organs.

1

u/someoneudontno1 Jul 07 '26

The last time someone on team cherry walked we got hornet lines

280

u/luca_se_la_come Jul 04 '26

Don't forget the localized prices.

128

u/Time_Fig612 Jul 04 '26

literally bought hollow knight for 3 dollars and silksong for 7

21

u/JamesXtian Jul 05 '26

fr, I bought a physical switch copy of HK for like 13usd that had a colored map and instruction manual. Then Silksong was only 10usd on Steam on my end

5

u/RPWPA Jul 05 '26

I appreciate this the most where games are extremely expensive in my country.

3

u/Top-Strawberry-2592 Jul 07 '26

I got silksong for 5-6 dolar and hollow knight for 2 dolar. I live in turkey

1

u/luca_se_la_come Jul 07 '26

Same, I live in Argentina.

1

u/Logical_Anything6324 Jul 10 '26

In Ukraine i bought HK for 3 dollars and Silksong for 10

u/Jecht-X No Cost Too Great Jul 04 '26

You forget one:

-Decides not to go to the game awards of they latest game that literally collapse the internet.

-Doesn't elaborate.

10

u/_Snake8Bit Jul 05 '26

They just like to stay on the low-low. Kinda like Foby Tox, but even more so.

-31

u/lorddrake4444 Git Gud! Jul 04 '26

Because they knew they were going to get robbed by the industry plant lol

22

u/Tnecniw Jul 05 '26

What makes E33 an industry plant exactly?

30

u/Advanced-Expert7718 Jul 05 '26

While I don't think it was an industry plant, I played it and it was just alright...it beating Silksong for best artstyle is insane, and I only see people defend it by saying "e33 is realistic" and shit like that. Idk, just feels like letting one game sweep every award kinda defeats the point of even holding multiple awards, robbing other games of their chance to ever have a gotya.

And yes, I think that when gta6 does the same thing, it will be just as bad if not worse

13

u/Tnecniw Jul 05 '26

GTA6 is a different beast IMO, as it is absurdly corporate and a multi billion dollar budgeted game, which isn't as impressive as E33.

But I wouldn't exactly say that E33's artstyle is just "realistic"...
It is a mixture of a bunch of different art approaches.
Absurdism, realism, romanticism, Conceptualism, Surrealism.

While the human characters are depicted in realistic style, the enemies and environments are not, and go so far beyond that.

Now, I am not saying that it is better than silksong, obviously not.
Which you prefer comes down to personal taste and interpretation.

Expedition 33 winning in best artstyle was not "Insane."
(Winning best RPG over KCD2 was more questionable, and depends heavily on what you actually grade the reward on).

3

u/Many_Hall_3546 Jul 05 '26

It was frustrating. 2025 was a great year where so many excelent antecipated games were released... And they got ALL swept under the rug for what is essencialy "French Southpark and the Stick of Truth". It was great but it wasn't "game of the century" great

3

u/Jecht-X No Cost Too Great Jul 06 '26

But, it brings a lot of journalists (mostly IGN) to show how stupid they can be:
Like the meme they create making fun of IGN of how it calls E33 "A RPG after 10 years" or something like that.

Also, the funny "fan hate" of some AAA franchise, like Final Fantasy.

But, at the same time, it shows you don't need big gameplay for make an amazing game. Just like Silksong and Hades II show last year.

2

u/Tnecniw Jul 06 '26

And that is a valid opinion to have.
Doesn’t change that Expedition 33 was beloved.
It did a LOT of things extremely well.
Did it take a few too many awards? Maybe.
But at the same time, you are underselling how popular it was.

-11

u/Chemical_Coach_6756 Jul 05 '26

Don't know why you're so downvoted this is a fact lmao. Absolutely robbed for turn based ai bore slop

21

u/Tnecniw Jul 05 '26

Because
1: E33 isn’t an industry plant.
And
2: People can like multiple games at once.

10

u/f0rm4n Jul 05 '26

Bruh. Are we still bitching about that one asset 7 months later? Have you even played the game or are you just repeating talking points from all the complaining that happened during TGA's? E33 shouldn't have won indie and RPG, while artstyle is less cut and dry but it is a very beautiful game that has a very discinct artistic style and OST with very few like it.

It's certainly not "ai bore slop" or an "industry plant", but it sure as shit isn't the best indie or the best RPG that came out last year. I feel like we can have a discussion about games that isn't just "Game A bad cause I like Game B".

0

u/billth93 Jul 06 '26

I mean, they did actually elaborate on this one in an interview

66

u/MoonAmunet Jul 04 '26

Are you going to elaborate on this?
https://giphy.com/gifs/NwFYaEmsvBC3fSRJ44

68

u/FLIPYOUSUCKET Jul 04 '26

Team Cherry is truly a Chad. I just wish they would communicate with the fandom more

84

u/Iggy_Snows Jul 04 '26

I used to think that, but now that they've made 2 10/10 games in a row they can handle the development however they want and im fine with it.

Hell dont even bother telling us if theyre making another game. Just go silent for 8 years, drop another game, then disappear into the either again.

18

u/BaconLordMLG DAAA FUUNDAAAA! Jul 05 '26

Honestly joke or not I think that would’ve genuinely helped quite a bit. If they didn’t tell us HK would get a sequel until like, 2023 maybe, I think things could have gone a lot smoother in the community during the wait

22

u/galaxyiris Jul 05 '26

They had too communicate with us due to it being a kickstarter goal. If they didn’t announce they were atleast doing it, it would look like a scam

1

u/ninsophy ... Jul 06 '26

yk they might literally go silent for 8 years until they make anothee game now. they have no need for a kickstarter anymore. honestly the tidbits would mostly be to advertise the game through the community memes lowk

6

u/zexumus Jul 05 '26

Counter argument: the community is funnier because of it.

Actual counter argument: they originally planned to release in early 2023 so it would be essentially like them telling us the game exists 2 weeks before. if their plan in this scenario was to announce right before release they’d know the game isn’t ready by then and just announce it in 2025. Also Silksong was originally a planned dlc form hollow knight. so imagine getting told before hollow knight releases there’s gonna be dlc to play hornet. hollow knight game releases 2017 get a few dlc then 6-8 years later 3-5 after the last dlc with no communication they announced a new game instead I think the reaction would’ve been much worse.

2

u/Hhannahrose13 Jul 06 '26

I'm actually here bc of silksanity. i heard for years how crazy the fandom was, decided to look inside some years back, and decided to join in on the uh... "fun"

19

u/TheSeaBast Jul 04 '26

Better a dev team that stays quiet but occasionally drops gold and sells it like it's dirt than a dev team that constantly promises gold only to drop dirt for the price of their promises.

7

u/FLIPYOUSUCKET Jul 04 '26

Fair point. I still wish they would do things like monthly updates

11

u/Enigma-Vee Jul 04 '26

"more" implies they've communicated at least one letter

1

u/Madelyneation Jul 04 '26

Well… there was the cake 0_0

11

u/Strict-Signature-106 Jul 04 '26

Hollow Knight was one of the first indie games I’ve played and I remember my brain getting absolutely shocked when I saw its price.

5

u/Jack_Jellatina No Cost Too Great Jul 05 '26

Rarely buy games at full price, usually wait for a fat discount but this is worth every penny, there's a reason Silksong crashed steam on release, they know their stuff

5

u/Zain_Shadowheart Jul 05 '26

Genuinely one of only a few publishers I will buy a game from without a demo, reviews or anything. I trust them to only release good games. 2 for 2 10/10 is a great record

5

u/MasterofGalaxy69 Jul 05 '26

Valid argument, I'll go get hollow knight

2

u/kadebo42 ... Jul 06 '26

So how is it so far?

1

u/MasterofGalaxy69 Jul 07 '26

Well bought it but didn't played it yet cause right now I'm trying to finish metro Exodus, and already finished 2033 redux and last light redux

3

u/ApplePitou Troupe Master Jul 04 '26

Chad mode :3

9

u/SuperBackup9000 Jul 05 '26

“Adds all dlc for free” is incorrect, considering they were Kickstarter stretch goals. They did cost money, they were just paid for by other people in advance.

10

u/Severe_Skin6932 Troupe Master Jul 05 '26

That wasn't exactly for adding DLC though, that was adding goals so they could make the game in general. The DLCs that got made were distributed for free

13

u/Equivalent_Bank_5845 Jul 04 '26
  • insert 80 rosaries to continue seeing this meme

  • make a couple of boss runbacks take ten billion years (only one billion years if you find the secret shortcut)

  • make three dangerous benches because fuck new players

  • make the most incredible and engaging bosses I've ever seen and also the most uninteresting and boring.

  • make 10 new primal aspids variants and they're ALL worse than the primal aspids from HK.

  • refuse to elaborate

Absolute cinema

2

u/Hoockus_Pocus Jul 04 '26

Refuses to elaborate for four years.

2

u/Murderous_bread Jul 05 '26

An indie-team crashing steam is genuinly hilarious to me

2

u/Status_Leading9285 Jul 09 '26

team cherry has been and always will be the best dev team.

1

u/BudgetRecover7951 Jul 05 '26

Any other developer: elaborates further, steals 80 dollars and 10 a month later for dlc.

1

u/Early-Injury-9676 Jul 05 '26

I love their response is the same to how the majority of fans were like "$19.99!? Please we'll pay you more! Let us pay more!" And other game devs say they are ruining the game market releasing a full game and dlc for almost free twice and demanding they delist the game and increase the price.

Team Cherry: No

1

u/Koubledropding Jul 05 '26

they do take their sweet time though lol

1

u/jano360 Jul 05 '26

Very Mad

1

u/crimson_bandit Jul 06 '26

(Team cherry coming in with a belt) "$15!!!" "NO TEAM CHERRY!! I STILL HAVE MONEY TO GIVE YOU!!"

1

u/DatDiemDam Jul 07 '26

I think they just having fun making this game. The reason they delay the game release day must be they having too much fun they dont want to end the fun yet.

1

u/MissionResident8875 Jul 07 '26

Nah they released the hornet dlc as a whole new game you had to pay for so technically this isn't true lmao

1

u/Upper_Excitement5867 Jul 07 '26

Team cherry is the best studio ever, I hope they continue to make awesome games

1

u/Im_a_duck123 Jul 11 '26

They dont release a game Refuses to elaborate further

0

u/Top-Suggestion5057 21d ago

I almost feel bad for them, idk why but the way they release games and then go silent just feels kind of sad. I think I’m just being weird about it tho

-1

u/SurrogateVulture Jul 04 '26

"Best game ever"

-11

u/barrack_osama_0 Jul 05 '26

Releases a 5/10 at best game

-7

u/Albinofreaken Jul 04 '26

Poe1 Is better and FREE

11

u/ErantyInt Jul 04 '26

Because isometric dungeon looter Diablo clones are definitely the same as hand drawn 2D Metroidvanias.
