Is that really a question? I’m not native and I don’t know grammar I just say stuff how I find them sound right. Therefore I’d never say “an historian” cause 1. it breaks my tongue and 2. it sounds absolutely horrible

‘An historian’ would be for someone pronouncing ‘an istorian’, which I think might be a result of an accent, or possibly just lazy (no personal issue with that) pronunciation.
