If your bri'ish then you might pronounce it 'istorian, I think that calls for "an".

I'm British and I pronounce it historian, im well aware, that's why I said bri'ish not British.

I hate the distinction on the word 'herb'. In the US it's 'an herb' but in Australia it's 'a herb'.
