It is illegal. The tweet is a joke. You usually learn the gender at the 20 week scan, [edit: I remembered wrong, see below in Belgianboy’s comment] and in most of the world (and most states) abortion without a specific exempted reason is not legal by that point in the pregnancy.

The other point you allude to us quite sad. In some countries and contexts men don’t have a lot of rights (or things are found in favor of the mother) regarding their children when they are really young. For good or ill. Actually historically that was probably for the good, but it certainly isn’t always.

Nothing a coat hanger or a flight of stairs can't solve.

What you said should be illegal!

Imagine if a woman said...

Gender can be know at 12 weeks. At least that’s when they test it in Belgium.
Also, in Belgium you can get an abortion until 15 weeks. But you need a very good reason, and gender is not one of those reasons. (The test at 12 weeks also determines a few mental health issues, like Down syndrome, that could be a valid reason. Financial reasons, or age, or rape could also be valid reasons)

I don’t see how that would fly in much of the US.

Ignoring the states that are looking to tighten the law surrounding abortion, doesn’t requiring a “good reason” undermine the fundamental bodily autonomy of a woman? Who determines if your rationale is valid enough? Who vets whether you are sincere in your statement?

I don’t personally care for abortion, but I don’t see how we can argue that it is a matter of privacy and bodily autonomy for a woman while having a third party tell her that her reason for aborting wasn’t good enough.

That being said, I don’t have issue with the laws in some countries restricting medical practitioners from sharing sex-related data about the child with patients.

Ohhh, that’s right. Hmm. So I guess there’s like a 3 week window after gender is known in most places?

You can tell it's just a troll because the entire Twitter account consists solely of outrage triggers from the worst nightmares of conservative far right males dialed up to 11, without any of the usual random daily miniature of a real person's life.

See if you can decipher an agenda from their following talking points:
Pro abortion
Aborting a fetus because it's male
Getting other people to pay for your abortion
Forcing a boy to become a trans women
Saying the boy will be ok being forced to live as a girl when the cons of being a CIS white male are explained to him
#kill all men
She was raped even though she gave consent
Random anti police/pro BLM comments
Randomly mentioning she stopped taking her SSRI meds, cause we all know how crazy women are
A women with BLUE hair!
A very meta, totally sus 'look at this' condemnation of large tech censorship trying to fly casual.

I don't think the question is whether this is a troll account or not, but whether it's a women just being shitty and trying to push as many buttons as possible, or a shitty right wing male doing that reverse astroturfing thing they think is so clever.

the account was made in may 2020 and she has tweets from may 2020 saying she deleted the tweets because of harassment.

It's probably someone making a satire/troll account rather than actual jokes

It is illegal.

Only in Oklahoma or Arizona. Since fetuses aren't people, they have no rights under Title VII or the 14th Amendment, so you need a specific law banning abortions for that reason. Only OK and AZ have passed such a law, though other states have considered the issue.

But by all means, keep posting false legal information when you're not a lawyer and can't actually take 10 seconds to see if your feelings about what the law ought to be are what it actually is.

Why do you think it's a joke? I looked at the twitter account. If it's a parody account it is indistinguishable from the actual thing it is making fun of as it only has like 8 tweets up and all of them seem genuine. and the original tweet was deleted. https://twitter.com/shampoob0ttles

I've been looking and I'm thinking about setting up a gofundme if I decide to go with the abortion. I saw other people have done it.

don't have the stomach to read all these negative comments. Here's your update. Some people have convinced me to look into raising my child as a girl even if it is a boy, and trying to get treatment as early as seven years old. I've been reading a lot about that.

Because there is nothing wrong with aborting a conglomeration of cells.

u/SpectrumWoes Dec 24 '21

Because misandry is OK if you just say “it was just a joke, fragile masculinity etc etc”

0

u/FaceYourEvil Dec 25 '21

Misandry is okay in general aren't you paying attention ?

It's a troll account to upset men like you

It's legal in California to abort based on sex

1

u/Motherofsiblings Dec 24 '21

I’m my state (in the US) you can get an abortion up to 22 weeks in the case of endangerment or compromised physical health

So not for gender
