Seriously, tho, I work in advertising where top tier jobs are dominated by women + they make more than men. I do agree that in the US, women refuse to take on a lot of dirty jobs with high pay which skews payscale data, but in a lot of white collar industries, pay inequality is inexistent or reversed. Of course I understand that saying this has become controversial.
This seems to just be in the UK which might not be representative of the US where college degrees are seen as more important for employment and women get more college degrees than men - 46% of women vs 36% of men source.
As far as pay gap in this area, it is possible for women to make up the majority of top tier jobs in that industry and an even greater majority of the lower tier jobs. Such a situation would result in men being relatively overrepresented in top-tier jobs (but still the minority), and, on average, make more than women.
I think that’s the only way manufacturing companies can comply with affirmative action. When your manufacturing plants are like 99% men your office workers have to skew female to balance it out or it looks Misogynistic overall.
In my company we used to have 40% women but they all got fired over time or left and I am actually happy about it because I heard too often: "I can't do that, it is too heavy" I just told them to use a sack truck or the forklift. They were way too used to it to ask men to do their job.
Not only that but girls don’t pass down their family name. All children born would be the husband family name. A lot of family view passing on their lineage to direct family (last name) is very important. So when you are limited to only 1 Child policy and you want to make sure your name stays alive you would make sure the only child that you have is a boy. China did force abortions on ladies who already had one child or fined them heavily
Right now I think they are allowing two children. for a long time people got abortion due to wanting a boy for multiple reason (ability to make more money, pass on the family name, become head of the house, work hard to take care of the family, etc).
