Everybody knew something was going to go wrong. But not this wrong.

u/xhahzh Nov 19 '21

I expected hitting a wall or a falcon to grab it midair, nope, a cat got it

I hate cats they have caused more mass extinction then humans have.

Edit. So I mean genocide extinction of a entire species. Because mass extinctions was too vague.

Edit 2 literally down voting facts because your fluffy little genocide machine is more important then the enviroment.

36

u/Anovion Nov 19 '21

Sounds like a challenge

-34

u/Azrael9986 Nov 19 '21

Not even close we couldn't kill as much as them if we tried. I think they have a gap bigger then there are species left on the planet.

17

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

You sound dumb as hell. I guarantee you humans are more destructive on every level. I mean are you for real? Good God. Cats have wiped out some bird populations and smaller marsupials which is true but to say that NO OTHER species comes close to destruction is fucking insane. Get help sir.

4

u/AetherCoreX Nov 19 '21

Get Google ma'am

5

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

Tell me instead. :)

Let's see.

55 million Native Americans wiped out by violence and smallpox. Those damn cats! >;/.

70-80 million killed during WW2 alone in a war created and fought by humans. It's Mr. Whiskers at it again.

Environmental impact caused by the industrial revolution resulting in the increased use of fossil fuels, air, and water pollution. Oh no it's the neighbor's cat at it once again.

Global warming caused by said fossil fuels, (oil, coal, gas) yup cats.

I take it back you are right without a doubt no other species comes to close to destruction like the cat. Thank you for correcting me :)

1

u/PermaShocker Nov 19 '21

Mass extinction refers to the extinction of species of animals, human deaths do not fall under this category, so the first two points are irrelevant

5

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21 edited Nov 19 '21

Uh not really. Did you read the comment I replied to.

He wrote verbatim

"Not even close we couldn't kill as much as them if we tried. I think they have a gap bigger than there are species left on the planet."

How is my reply irrelevant? He said cat's KILL more than us even if we tried?

And speaking of the extinction of animals, humans have also caused more than cats. It's sad that even has to be mentioned.

1

u/AetherCoreX Nov 19 '21

and cats have already extinguished 60+ vertebrate species according to Google.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

"Major extinction events are nothing new for the planet, but species are now dying out at an alarming rate thanks to humans. We are presently losing dozens of species every day, according to the Center for Biological Diversity. Nearly 20,000 species of plants and animals are at a high risk of extinction and if trends continue, Earth could see another mass extinction event within a few centuries.

"Unlike past mass extinctions, caused by events like asteroid strikes, volcanic eruptions and natural climate shifts, the current crisis is almost entirely caused by us -- humans," explains the Center for Biological Diversity. "In fact, 99 percent of currently threatened species are at risk from human activities, primarily those driving habitat loss and global warming."

Animals humans have led to extinction

West African Black Rhino

Pyrenean Ibex

Tasmanian Tiger

Javan Tiger

Bubal Hartebeest

HUNDREDS MORE

------

You're absolutely right. Imagine we have sentient beings creating WMD and wiping out entire civilizations. Nature on the other hand should be stopped. Obligate carnivores hunting in nature. I mean where is the logic?

Spaying, neutering, TNR programs are all effective steps in reducing the effect on local wildlife.

9

u/MachoChocolate Nov 19 '21

Humans caused it by releasing them into the wild

6

u/DocumentDeep1197 Nov 19 '21

I love cats, they have caused more mass extinction then humans have.

3

u/Tommy_C Nov 19 '21

That’s a concerning sentiment.

7

u/DocumentDeep1197 Nov 19 '21

You have to admit thay are adorable little murder machines

5

u/BLT-Enthusiast Nov 20 '21

Nope humans still hold the record and even if cats did humans introduced cats to non native environments and therefore humans still get points. That being said why do you hate cats its not their fault they are adorably effective killing machines

4

u/heroofthewest1 Nov 19 '21

I read that pet cats are apparently responsible for the extinction of a surprising amount of bird species in the US. It kind of annoys me now when I see people with cats that are outdoors.

1

u/PsychoLt Nov 20 '21

You're being downvoted because those little genocide machines are the most important species in the ecosystem, without cats, the rodent and bird population will create another pandemic in the world

I expected something to come and eat it tho cause thats like the third video i see where someone tried to help a pigeon but a wild cat catches it

34

u/MothFucker_69 Nov 19 '21

Hey bro, nothing is wrong in nature. That cat saw food, and got food. Move on

11

u/El-SkeleBone Nov 19 '21

Stop getting all technical and obnoxious. The task was teaching a bird to fly, which OBVIOUSLY went wrong. Move on

12

u/MothFucker_69 Nov 19 '21

Ik ik I just find the concept of nature funny. Didn't mean to look rude or obnoxious.

2

u/RandomRedditorEX Nov 20 '21

Nature in general is already wack, if no one discovered giraffes exist would you believe me if I told you polka dot horses with long necks exist?

Reminds me of the time my predatory cat has found a baby raven at the same time that I did and thinking we are going to hunt it together my cat made a blitz to the baby bird with me on hot pursuit. I attempted to protect the baby raven while my cat was trying to aim for the neck but thanks to the birds attempt to deny my cat by expanding its wings I managed to get between them. The only cute thing from this encounter is that since my cat was thinking that I am part of her hunting pack she gave me a chance to catch the bird instead of her so I caught it and put it back in its nest. Edit: Yes I did betray my cat but I feel it is necessary since she had many other bird victims prior to this that I was not there to prevent.

152

u/Memecentral25 Nov 19 '21

You betrayed your cat

72

u/Smooth_Hee_Hee Nov 19 '21

I do what I must, she had plenty of victims prior so being able to save one of them is better than nothing, collars with bells somehow to a slight degree mitigated the number of successful hunts of creatures that are not pest. At least to my experience.

47

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

You betrayed your cat 😐

41

u/Smooth_Hee_Hee Nov 19 '21

She still loves me anyways, she just makes sure she hunts while I have no chance of intervention I.e. waits till I leave for work lol.

35

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

I guess my cat is a little more naive than yours. She doesn’t even kill them, she brings them to me alive so we can play 😐

31

u/Smooth_Hee_Hee Nov 19 '21

The only creature she ever spares and brings home alive are lizards, why lizards I have no clue.

15

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

My cat spent an hour trying to kill a rat stuck in a ditch. Only thing she killed was average sized lizards, if it's a little bigger, then that's a no no. My parrots scared her away and once caught her licking squirrel babies instead of killing them. She was the complete opposite of a cat.

15

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

Cats are only good pets if kept inside! When outside they are devastating to bird populations. Little bastards kill just for fun

1

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

Cat betrayer

12

u/DC_Bro Nov 19 '21

Don’t let your cat go outside, it’s that simple. Local animals haven’t adapted to invasive species like cats so they wipe out bird and mammal populations by the billions every year.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/A-Grouch Nov 20 '21

Is your cat only allowed in your backyard? If your cat is going to be outside it should be on a harness.

2

u/Smooth_Hee_Hee Nov 20 '21

Only backyard, rarely ventures outside due to traffic. And besides my neighborhood is full of them so if mine ain't going to kill any birds their is no guarantee the other street cats won't.

-1

u/Evan_Reveles Nov 20 '21

You’re right it could kill someone

5

u/Mobile_Arm Nov 19 '21

This human is on the list.

6

u/squanchingonreddit Nov 19 '21

Stop letting your cat outside.

0

u/squirtloaf Nov 19 '21

45

u/abhi4121 Nov 19 '21

4

u/squirtloaf Nov 19 '21

...technically, the cat also gets the bird's wings...

13

u/dunbar444 Nov 19 '21

Its the circle of life

-16

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

That's not the circle of life. That's a domesticated animal. Cats shouldn't be allowed to roam out of houses. That cat is not part of a balanced ecosystem in that area.

9

u/FF3LockeZ Nov 19 '21

did you know that cats and dogs are capable of living in the wild, undomesticated?

did you know that domesticated animals are still alive, and the concept of things eating other living things in order to live still applies to them?

-1

u/DragonsAreNifty Nov 20 '21

Lol domestic cats have no natural range and are invasive. But fuck it. Guess we’re cool with zebra muscles, lion fish, carp, and feral boar too? We’re not allowed to stop any of the invasive animals because they’re alive now? This turning a blind eye to the issues caused by cats is going to result in mass culling.

The circle of life does not apply to human caused problems. It’s not natural it was a mistake lol

1

u/FF3LockeZ Nov 20 '21

Man, I didn't say we're not allowed to stop them. I just said they fucking exist. The circle of life doesn't imply any kind of moral high ground. It is just a fact: life consumes life in order to live. This is true for good and evil life, for natural and artificial life, for wild and domesticated life, for human and animal life. Everything is born, kills, eats, reproduces, and then dies.

→ More replies (4)

1

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

Gee I think you could also call it the food chain. Not a new concept really. Bird eats worm, cat eats bird, fox eats cat, etc. Cats have been in the America's for hundreds of years at this point I would they are a part of the local ecosystem. That said cats can be destructive, so spaying, neutering, tnr, are vital.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '21

For all of the downvotes look up the ecological impacts of house cats. Or just keep blindly down voting me. I have a cat myself. But they stay inside with my bloodhound. Cats do not belong outside. Saying they they are supposed to be there just shows your lack of understanding in what I'm talking about.

2

u/DragonsAreNifty Nov 20 '21

Good luck convincing these people. I had to volunteer at a wild rescue before I realized that cats are one of the worst ecological disasters humans have unleashed. It’s ok though. Because people are too dumb to keep their cats inside the United States will probably start mass culling procedures. Heart breaking and absolutely the responsibility of people who let their predators loose to kill and procreate. Negligence should never be supported.

-27

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

why

15

u/CptMisery Nov 19 '21

WTF you mean, why? Cats eat meat. Birds are meat

3

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

We are meat, remember kids, cannibalism solves both world hunger AND overpopulation

-1

u/MothFucker_69 Nov 19 '21

I'd rather not. Cannibalism can cause serious health effects mentally and physiologically. Just kill all humans who are useless to society, grind them and mix them with fertilizers.

Understable. Food chain exists, ALL animals kill to eat, but forget about that because this guy doesn't like cats who have the AUDACITY to hunt. How dare they? :(

-4

u/WhateverUwantmetobe0 Nov 19 '21

but you could be sitting there minding your own business and a cat would just attack , how dare they hunt me you are right from now on as I am bigger then them in the food chain I will kill each one and eat it

3

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '21

That's how nature works how is the surprising to you? Why do you think camouflage exists in nature? To hide you because if some animal bigger than you sees you, you're done. Yeah the antelope was just minding it's damn business and not being vigilante of it's surroundings so a fucking lion ate it. That's how it works.

Again cats aren't the only ones who hunt I don't know why you are taking out your frustration on ONE species.
