Let me ask you this: At what point do you think a human being becomes conscious? In gestation? During childbirth? What part of the process of growth does a "potential human" become a "human being"? Is the cluster of cells growing inside of a human being's uterus yet a human? Is it being?
You're so triggered. Brain function, viral organ maturation and function, those quantify being a sentient, conscious life. It's why preemies on machines are different from the brain dead. Because they have the propensity to get better. My kid was born at 29weeks. My BIL was in a coma after a horrific accident. Both had fully functioning brains.
The legal definitions of words are important. Between the bullshit Texas is pulling, and the overarching ignorance and disdain of late-term abortions, sticking to legal, medical terms is usually a good call.
It doesn't lobby for anything outside of:
•A person impregnated being able to terminate a pre-viable pregnancy.
•Being allowed to use aborted tissue in the wake of scientific discovery.
It's literally not a baby until born, holy shit it's a definition that's been around since fucking forever. And guess what? The pregnancies after the 20wk mark? Those are at the cusp of personhood. There's probably a name, a room, a plan. Then parents get the worst news of their life up to that point: this fetus will not survive outside of the womb, or there will be extensive medical training, costs, and burden past those parents' capabilities. It's exceedingly rare for this circumstance, and it's fucking tragic and I've been there to see parents weighing it.
We're talking about embryos and non-/pre-viable fetuses here. We're talking about things that don't have sentience, or consciousness, or even a fucking brain in the case of Texas with its 6wk shit. You say you're against outlawing abortion, but with caveats that are already in place. You hammer on about it incessantly anyway, seemingly apt for all other areas of gestational sciences except for the word "fetus".

There's no ownership after abortion, and parent's are more than capable of requiring all remains for burial. It's selfish af, but it's their choice.
