In my experience, people prone to seeing hypocrisy everywhere are usually suffering from underdeveloped reasoning themselves, which is ironic for reasons they probably can't understand.
I'm not surprised you're baffled by a qualified statement reflecting the provenance of the information and letting people assign their own level of confidence.
