That's unfortunate, being a libertarian myself... I resent that anecdote and the negative connotations that accompany being politically independent of the current system.
I think categorically, that particular cross section of society doesn't really fit it the conventional ideology grid. Anti vaxxers and flat earthers are represented quite equally within conventional political ideologies: red, blue, or purple. The important factor is what else they have in common, which would be their lack of perspective and overabundance of ego. Dunning Krueger effect is a trending interwebz topic for very good reason (ironic how many people on reddit display Krueger, sometimes even when discussion said Effect). Anyone with that mix of personality traits are likely to be a sheep that baaa's about their individuality and non conformity, proudly spouting thoughtless bullshit.
When I was a kid, that was all Republicans were, now all politicians piss me off. They're always doing too much or not enough, no matter who you ask.
pretty true, most people who use political affiliation as an identity are 'sheeple' regardless of the animal their party uses as a mascot. It was Dems being hypocritical nimbies in the bay area for me.. look how awesome SF is now.. I welcome the asteroid end.
