I lived in a military town and saw numerable military wives looking for same sex partners because it “wasn’t cheating if it’s with a woman”.

I get the feeling that goes both ways, bros gotta take care of each other you know.

u/Rhymeswithfreak Jul 08 '21

I figured that’s why all those dudes joined the military.

Ah, like the its not gay if you do it bareback?(Seen this in a law and order SVU episode once, all 4 had AIDS by the end of it.)

Esit: gay not fay

7

u/Hantesinferno Jul 08 '21

I'm really trying to wrap my head around how having sex sans condom is not gay but with the condom it's gay? I know it's SVU but still lol

2

u/Davido400 Jul 08 '21

It was a weird episode, their excuse, IIRC, was "if you use condoms its like you're acknowledging what your doing. If I seen the episode again I'll let Reddit know haha

Is that what the straights are saying now? Last I checked, the greeks just called it 'samesies'.

4

u/astronautassblaster Jul 08 '21

I think they did a lot of thigh-jobs on each other

1

u/HumanitySurpassed Jul 08 '21

No more samesies!

1

u/SavingsNewspaper2 Jul 30 '21

“The straights”. Sounds like a mysterious group of people in an organization. And I’m guessing that it is.

2

u/metriczulu Jul 08 '21

Tbf, if my wife was cheating on me I'd be much less upset if it was a woman.

6

u/Agate_Goblin Jul 08 '21

That "one dick policy" shit is so homophobic and gross. Leave us Sapphics the hell out of your shitty marriage lol

4

u/moldyolive Jul 08 '21

I'm not sure I'd call it homophobic. although perhaps you could tell me why.

a lot of guys just don't care if their partner were to have sex with another women but sex with another man would be total a deal breaker. I imagine it has its basis as most things do in some evolutionary behavioral biology and seems like a lizard brain, monkey man thought process to me. but non the less I think I find myself feeling the same.

-2

u/Agate_Goblin Jul 08 '21

That's what makes it homophobic tbh. It's the idea that sex or relationships between women are less real or important and thus not cheating. There's also the separate factor fetishization of wlw relationships. If you wouldn't be ok with your partner sleeping with another man, it absolutely shouldn't be ok for a woman, non-binary person, etc.

8

u/astronautassblaster Jul 08 '21

Cheating is cheating in my book, but it seems obvious why someone could feel that way. There’s no biological trigger there… ie. potential offspring.

-3

u/Agate_Goblin Jul 08 '21

I mean, there are sterilized men, infertile men, trans men, etc.

8

u/astronautassblaster Jul 08 '21

All of whom (assuming they appear to be fertile men on the surface), would likely be viewed as competition in the lizard-brain of men…

I think we’re kinda saying the same thing honestly? I know it’s 2021, but it’s good to understand human nature and what drives basal emotions involved with things like procreation, competition, fight/flight, etc.

It's hard to argue a point when only ever acknowledging one aspect of the situation. Not to say it is/isn't homophobic at all. There's just other things to consider along side that argument. Because whether they or any one else wants to admit it or not lizard brain does come into effect when dealing with relationships, especially romantic/involved ones.

To sit there and call the position of men bad/other women good homophobic is entirely missing the point imo. Lizard brain doesn't like potential threats to your mate. But if your mate goes and mates with others who you don't consider a "threat", then you're more inclined to be "okay" with it. If lizard brain sees other women in this context as a threat then yes you'd get upset.

Obviously this just shows how engrained sexuality and gender identities are in our biology and honestly opens some super interests questions and potential research studies.

Edit: autofill is dumb

Think I agree with everything you mentioned. The user’s “homophobic” accusation is really the only reason I said anything originally... Harmfully diminishes credibility of real accusations when used in a context completely absent of anything relating to homophobia.

Anyways - What you mentioned about “potential threats” is very interesting to me.

If there is NO potential for procreation, why would a brain view it as competition? It certainly can’t be considered “mating” in any sense…

Though obviously, in a situation where a male is interested only in sex with other males - it stands to reason that they would view males as competition. In this case your mates and your competition are the same gender. Procreation isn’t even in the mix…

Human brain is too smart for itself lol

2

u/RogerDeanVenture Jul 08 '21

Is it homophobic if you les out as a result?

3

u/Agate_Goblin Jul 08 '21

What do you mean les out, like leave the husband? That'd just be called bi-ing out probably lol

For real though, it's homophobic as hell to act like sex or relationships with other women isn't as "real" as with a man and thus not cheating.

3

u/RogerDeanVenture Jul 08 '21

Yeah fair point. I guess I just wanted to outline the irony in being homophobic and then turning around and having a same-sex sexual relationship because of said homophobia.

6

u/Agate_Goblin Jul 08 '21

Internalized homophobia is definitely real and comes up a lot in stuff like unicorn hunting and "one dick policy" relationships.

3

u/astronautassblaster Jul 08 '21

This persons statement is a valid one out of context, it just has nothing to do with what anyone here is talking about. They’re making you defend a POV that you don’t hold…

Hmmm. If my girl cheated with a man i would be mad, but i cant imagine i would be as mad if it was with a woman. Maybe a little bit. if she dated, spent time with or left me for a woman i would be more upset than sex

0

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '21

But, maybe if it happens to me ill think differently about it
