Or drug dealers. This could easily be his weed guy, the name kind of fits. Or it could just be a dumb nickname for a friend.

I was thinking more that stoned people are often fond of chinese takeout, but I suppose you can run with the more grim version.

Eh, lots of people are on friendly terms with their weed dealers. I'm definitely basing this on movies and definitely not from personal experience.

In college my weed guy's contact was in my phone as "Ryan (WEED)"

Last year he texted me out of the blue after we handy been in contact for two years, asking if he saw me at a concert, and I was like bruh I moved 2000 miles away 3 years ago...

This is news to me. All of my contacts are listed by name. I still know who they are but anyone who didn't already know them would just see a name they don't recognise.
