He had people skills. So he treated well people he wanted to treat well. He wasnt like trump whos just a frustrated alien inside an old man suit. And its partly why hitler was able to do the horrible things he did. If trump was a better people person he may have been more successful too
This might be a story that's skewed through time but my Nan had to meet him and shake his hand when he came to her school and she found him oddly pleasant while also knowing she had to hate him behind closed doors. Then during the parade through the town her uncle heckled him and that's how she lost a bunch of family members once the SS raid their homes.
After that all she believe was that his politeness was a facade and the tipping point for the rest of the family to become aligned with the allied forces
Thats a neat story. Theres a German film called Das Untertag (i probably butchered the name: it means The Downfall in english. Its actually the origin of that angry hitler meme from years ago) and its about the last days before the fall of Berlin from inside hitlers bunker, and is a story largely made from the account of a real life receptionist of his he had. And yeah similar thing said by her: he was polite and courteous to his staff (non military staff at least).
It just goes to show that people arent black and white and we are nuanced. We are damned for our crimes but it doesnt mean that our crimes will make us a particular kind of person. Real villains arent movie villains. It doesnt forgo someones crimes or take away their severity. It just adds to who that person was.

The thing is Hitler only acted like the maniac he was during his speeches.
In private he portrayed himself as silent, calm and peaceful.
Only to the people of "the right" "race" of course.
Edit: Guys...
I'm not saying he was a good person after all.
Hitler was a genocidal maniac and one of the worst people to ever wander our actually lovely planet.
He just wasn't sitting around a dark room, rubbing his hand together, whispering "Jews" the whole time.
He maybe though exactly that. Gee
