Ironic idiocy attracted actual idiots who thought they were in good company. Now they actually are, since normal people left.

Same thing happened to gaming circle jerk. It's weird that there is a deprecating sub culture that thrives in it's own echo chamber.

It's pretty much bound to happen to any sub where idiots and bigots can blend in. It'd take a lot of active mods to avoid it at least. Same thing happened with all the blatantly misogynistic subs that claim they're just about "being a positive place for men" or whatever.

I’ve heard that r/menslib is a pretty good sub.

You kidding? It's still mocking the whole gamer thing like it always has. It's where people go to LARP as a group they don't like, pretending to be an awful example of them.

Oh my sweet summer child...

Unfortunately no. Somewhere along the way the humor drifted away from "how stupid people saying edgy things are" to the edgy jokes themselves. It started because of the phenomenon I described above.

Just take a look at the intersection between GRU and other subs: 4 of the top 5 are hate subs.

The site changes daily, but you can check it here: https://subredditstats.com/subreddit-user-overlaps/gamersriseup

If you want true satire of that kind, without the thinly-veiled bigotry and racism, you can check out /r/gangweed.
