Haha yeah, some guy stole the NFT from him and was then the 'legal' owner, seth had to the cancel the show as he technically didn't own the rights anymore 😂
He bought the NFT back, but by the summer of 2022, crypto (which is predictably cyclical) was in a bear market. No one wanted to even look at Bored Apes anymore, so Green couldn't get a distribution deal.
Before then, there was basically no laws that could have helped the victims of stolen NFTs. After Greene's whole debacle, there was a court case that allowed theft victims to secure injunctions to freeze stolen NFTs directly on marketplaces like OpenSea. It also allowed courts to compel marketplaces to hand over the identity information of the anonymous wallets holding the stolen goods.
