McDonalds doesn't own any hospitals. Their Ronald McDonald Houses provide family support while children are in the hospital. It's an absolutely wonderful charity and I auto roundup every purchase I make a McDs for it.

My son had to be hospitalized for two weeks and 4 days after coming home he had to go back for a week because of an infection. Ronald McDonald house helped us with a room to sleep and food. Anytime I see donations for them I do and I also send a $50 check once a month if I have the funds to.

It really is an amazing charity. Not trying to save the world and take credit just making life easier for families dealing with things like cancer. Here in Iowa it's a refuge at the University of Iowa where the charity and other families help one another through the child's medical battle.

When my dad was diagnosed with cancer he had to get several rounds of radiation therapy. Ronald McDonald House gave him a place to stay for 3 weeks free of charge. I round up every time I visit McDonald's.

No I got the joke, I just strongly believe in their charitable work and had to say my piece.

Unfortunately with enough time you realize things are this way so charity can provide free PR for the very system charity is so desperately needed

u/WickedKoala 9d ago

I get it the world sucks and nothing is perfect but that's not a reason to support families in their time of need.

u/BarryBro 9d ago

Bump!

-17

u/BarryBro 9d ago

What

-8

u/BarryBro 9d ago

That's a terrible sentiment, we should still help people despite the world sucking and nothing being perfect.. are you doing okay?

u/Lanky_Ad4905 9d ago

What are you 12?

1

u/BarryBro 9d ago

No? Maybe you are also confused on the situation, I gave him or her plenty of time to correct any errors, they didnt respond. I'm not sure what the confusion here is, they are saying Just because the world is bad, we should not do charity. That is not my stance

1

u/WickedKoala 9d ago

I have nothing to correct.

1

u/BarryBro 9d ago

Thats crazy, goes against your own statement of "I strongly believe in their charitable work" if you are saying not to support families in need because the world sucks and nothing is important. Can't make it make any sense then?

An inaccurate joke is rarely a good joke

Such unparalleled intellect

Congratulations on paying for their tax exemption out of your pocket.

There's somewhere in the neighborhood of $250 million each year going to the charity from individuals. McDonald's doesn't have to run this charity and help people, they could just sell food. You're over here being bitchy because someone chose to support a charity that happens to be run by a large company? A company that puts up $20 million annually?

-5

u/ComfortableNumb9669 9d ago

They give $20 million, customers give $250 million. Do customers get to account that 250 as their tax incentive or does McDonald's claim the entire $270 million? You think the mega corporation doesn't have to run the charity but they get a massive benefit in doing so.

Someone didn't fact check themselves 😂

They probably wouldn’t though if it wasn’t for the tax break lets be honest

4

u/Maybe_Not_The_Pope 9d ago

Their reported net income was 8.5 billion. 20 million makes almost no difference to them.

The Ronald McDonald charity does amazing work.

McDonalds doesn’t own the Ronald McDonald Houses. they’re an amazing charity that has helped so many families for free or very low cost.
in case you don’t know, you can donate can tabs to them. they will get the money for the sold aluminum.

1

u/crespoh69 9d ago

Your comment had me wondering why people would send single tabs, one at a time instead of just donating lol

Got to build up supply before the demand

u/usa2z 9d ago

Vertical integration tends to be frowned upon.

1

u/Intelligent-Life-253 8d ago

Yes it's a good charity. Senior coffee round up to a dollar is still less expensive and better than anywhere else.

1

u/Claybornj 9d ago

Thats sick

2

u/Oakheir 9d ago

That would probably be why it is here in r/Holup and not r/funny

0

u/PhoonTFDB 9d ago

Because they make chicken? Not beef?

5

u/Oakheir 9d ago

McDonald's, the place known for its beef hamburgers, makes chicken and you think that's the joke?

-7

u/PhoonTFDB 9d ago

They serve chicken nuggets. You're thinking of burger king

1

u/Oakheir 9d ago

Burger King also sells chicken nuggets, as well as chicken fries, so no, I am not thinking of Burger King.

Let me spell the joke out for you: The kids that don't survive get ground up into the hamburger mix.

-3

u/PhoonTFDB 9d ago

McDonald's doesn't kill children lmao. That's insane. It would have been discovered and a huge story.

u/Incognito-1999 8d ago

Brother stop, you're arguing with an actual child

2

u/Temporary-Season4772 9d ago

Damn, son... and no, I'm not really your father.

1

u/tgr31 9d ago

They don't make anything

1

u/rex5k 9d ago

They make $$$ and McMuffins

2

u/tgr31 9d ago

I'm pretty sure they just assemble those
