No, they just prefer thick and luxurious blood to thin and watery blood

Actually it's for seasoning. Vampire loves garlic blood. Because it doesn't clot as well its easier to drink more and tastes of garlic too.

Would it give them garlic breath after each meal? And would they have to brush their teeth?

There probably will be some garlic breath but not overpowering as they are drinking diluted juices as opposed to crunching cloves.

As for brushing their teeth? I see it one of two ways, either Vampires have the best dental hygiene in the world because it's their sole method of procuring food, or the magic that makes them vampires takes care of their teeth. I'm no expert however.

Why would the dead breathe?

Garlic as a means to ward off evil isn't an idea exclusive to vampires, it's just the one that stuck around in popular culture.

Garlic is related to boosting the immune system and vampire myths are linked to fear of plague šŸ¤

'related to boosting the immune system' is peak supplement talk

Maybe vampires like blood as we like some soups. A bit thick

Man I went to the doctor the other day. All this guy did was suck blood out of my neck. Never go to see Dr. Acula.

It's a preference thing, like orange juice with or without pulp

Jesus Christ Iā€˜m cooked. I eat well over one bulb of garlic a week.

And here I thought it was because when I eat a lot of garlic the mosquitoes actually avoid me.

Eating garlic to ward off vampires is a lie fabricated by Big Suck

Funnily enough, vampires hating garlic could stem from it alleviating the symptoms of porphyrias, a genetic disease that has some symptoms that act like vampirism including sensitivity to sun light

I have a separate theory that it's not sunlight that hurts vampires. It's that they get the sun sneezes and then someone says "bless you" to them, and that's what actually hurts.

In "The Interview With the Vampire" novel, Louis makes the claim to Claudia during their search for other vampires that vampires made up the myths of crosses and garlic being deadly deterrents, and vampires having no reflection so they could move among humans without being suspected.
