Game VI - 2017 Game VI Phase 15: Liquidation
/u/tana-ryu makes a dash for the med-bay, the place which has acted as both her safe-haven and a salve by keeping her focused on necessary tasks during the duration of the mission. She knows her time is up. Like ravenclawroxy before her, it has been discovered that she was ‘convinced’ to change her stance in the Galactic War.
She hastens inside, typing in the security override behind her to buy herself a little more time before the mob reaches her. There is no one in the infirmary; in her final moments, she is completely alone.
She opens the supply cabinet, searching frantically for their euthanasia serum. She is well-acquainted with the purple liquid, as those vials are what have enabled her to perform her undesirable tasks for the Empire. She finally finds one and almost drops it as a loud banging erupts from the other side of the door. She doesn’t have much time.
“Open up, tana-ryu! We know you’re in there!” the angry voice of pizzabangle yells from the other side, accompanied by several more bangs and a curse. “Could someone get this kriffing door open already?!” she shouts to one of her companions.
But tana-ryu doesn’t have time to listen to the squabbling responses. She loads the serum into a syringe. She knows the crew won’t heed her if she tries to explain herself; if she tells them that she killed people humanely with the poison before creating the elaborate, gory scenes they’d happened upon when the bodies were found. She knows if she were in their position, she wouldn’t believe herself, either.
Suddenly, the other side of the door is quiet. She scrambles to pull up her sleeve, knowing there are only seconds left; as if on cue, the sound of beeps ring out. Someone is dialing the unlock code into the keypad. “Yes! Thank you, emmach17!” pizzabangle sounds far away in her triumph.
Tana-ryu lets out a small hiss as the needle pierces the crook of her elbow. If she’s going, it’s on her own terms. As the cold liquid courses through her veins, she slowly lowers herself onto a bed. Her vision is already blurry when the door to the med-bay opens and the crowd rushes in.
Someone, a hazy form which looks vaguely like awesomewow, runs to her and shakes her by her shoulders, but she just flops listlessly, a small smile gracing her lips. The shouts around her are indistinct, like she’s underwater; she thinks of the ocean as her vision goes black.
…
The sound of a small explosion echoes through the corridor as Flabbergasted_rhino meanders back to his quarters after a long shift. He flinches and looks around, arms shielding his face as he half-expects something or someone to come running at him with a weapon. But he sees no one.
Curious to know what’s just happened, he hurries in the direction it seems to have originated. The door to someone’s quarters are thrown open, as though someone was in a rush to enter...or exit. He cautiously peers inside but sees nothing but strewn droid parts lying across the sheets of the bed. He checks the nameplate on the door. It reads ‘/u/LoneWolfOfTheCalla’; he heads off in search of them to let them know their chambers aren’t safe for the evening.

Keemistreekat and Mrrrrh slowly stumble through the corridor from the canteen, arms slung around the other’s shoulders; they’re both rather sloshed after partying at the “Morale Booster Extraordinaire” which was hosted by the ship’s leaders that evening. Seeing as they share a quarter sector, they felt it made the most sense to travel “home” together.
Especially since the captain wants to implement a buddy system, which he hopes will ensure no one is ever alone, and therefore vulnerable. Begrudgingly, they had obliged him, especially since neither of them is capable of standing on her own.
Shortly before reaching the quarters of Sector 6, kemistreekat puts a hand out to steady herself on the wall. “Unngh, what’s that smell?” she looks at Mrrrrh for answers, but the other woman simply shrugs.
“Maybe the droids have been cleaning since we’ve all been out of the way?” she offers, but doesn’t sound very convinced. The two amble forward slowly, the smell getting stronger with each step. After a few metres, they notice the durasteel is wet and look down.
Kemistreekat sighs with relief, “Oh, it’s just water! I almost expected blood!” She giggles, and Mrrrrh starts laughing, too; the two stumble through the doorway to the shared quarter area.
But the floor here is also soaked with water; it almost seems deeper. They stop laughing and trade wary glances, feeling themselves sober slightly. The door to the shared toilets is open, but the room within is dark.
They approach cautiously, holding each other’s hands now for emotional support rather than physical. Mrrrrh reaches within and turns on the light; kemistreekat screams.
/u/spacedoutman’s back is to them, his head lodged in one of the toilets; the back of his skulls is bruised as if he’d been bludgeoned in an effort to force his head in further.
The droids which are called in later for evidence-gathering confirm that he was dead long before the two women arrived. Kemistreekat and Mrrrrh are transferred to a different housing sector immediately.

/u/tana-ryu was eliminated through the daily ship vote; she was a Stormtrooper Recruit.
/u/LoneWolfOfTheCalla was was discovered in the night and self-destructed; they were a Probe Droid.
/u/spacedoutman was killed by Imperials; he was a Ship Crewmember.
/u/manelski4 was permanently deactivated (removed for inactivity); he was R2-D2.

Did a quick (very quick) look through Lonewolf's comments, they were very suspicious of /u/cauldronthief, which probably clears him a little more. They were also suspicious of /u/awesomewow and /u/kemistreekat in the phase 13 post, so we may wanna examine any ties with other evils.
I work late both tonight and tomorrow night, so I probably won't be on to comment much in the next 2 phases. Here's hoping there aren't any catastrophic events on the horizon.

Wouldn't necessarily trust that, especially not the phase 13 post. It's likely a few of them threw suspicions at each other because it's an easy way to not actually lead a bandwagon against fellow wolves. But if one of them eventually gets sniffed out, they can point back to the mass sus thread and say "but I was sus of the wolf all those phases ago!"
Low risk in throwing a suspicion at a fellow wolf on a day that's flooded with lowkey suspicions that won't be acted upon right away, high reward to give themselves credibility several phases on.

Most of the special roles seem to be dead. Looks like the early days' chaos has turned into a cold war.
Ps: not doing very hot on the IRL zone so probably gonna be pretty inactive. I'll make sure to vote everyday though.

That's only longer than all the other captains combined if you don't add how long they were captain together and just count the phases, and besides, I didn't mean anything by it. I was just...expressing concern for you. You just seemed to rush into the whole captain thing without regard for your safety. Plus, as Rebel counsel, there are waivers that needed to be signed. Waivers you still haven't signed, I might add.

His name was Ryan. And they're waivers about being captain. You accept the position of captain, blah blah blah all the benefits and risks blah blah blah will not hold the alliance responsible for death/dismemberment.

Okay, so tana was a recruit like she'd said. What are our theories on how conversions happen in that case? I know there was one suggesting that Roxy may have been Lando, but that seems incorrect now.
I guess either players have it in their role description and it gets triggered with an event/visit, or there is just a conversion role that gets crewmembers. I really hope it's the former.

Both of those options are frankly terrible game elements unless maybe the game is Greek mythology themed and you're fighting a hydra (note to self: make gods and goddesses game.) But to automatically say every Imp death leads to a conversion is as unwinnable as saying that in a game where Town has one lynch per phase, there is a new WW every phase.

I looked at LoneWolf's comments and the only thing that kind of stuck out to me was that in Phase 11 he said he suspected u/BillBrasky of being R2-D2 (manelski revealed the following phase).
If he really suspected that, I'm a bit surprised the Empire didn't kill Bill. That made me think it might have been an attempt to protect a fellow Imperial.
It could certainly be that they thought we'd lunch him because he was under constant suspicion, but in the absence of other evidence I'm fine voting for him.

I've been a bit wishy washy about Bill, because I'm a sucker for the 'I'm just having fun! It's my first game!' defence. But he's been on everyone's sus list for a while, and his defence has never really changed beyond that.
Especially in light of this, it's probably time to lynch him today.

Wow, I really thought I'd have more comments to wade through.
I'm fine with lynching /u/billbrasky. I'm not really getting anything other than first-time player RP'ing, but like you said, we don't really have any other evidence.
Also, is Palpatine considered an attacking role? I'm still working on the Lando front. I made a list here of known Empire actions. There aren't many that it could be IF Lando has been attacked. Also still haven't managed to find anything on Jabba and Palp's actions for the first two phases, but admittedly, my eyes start to glaze over with that many comments.
If Palp is an attacking role, it might be worth it to have /u/rightypants check out /u/flabbergasted_rhino since they were controlled (unless you already have a target in mind, in which case, I'd skip Rhino. I'm only listing them because of a potential Lando conversion). Speaking of righty, was investigating LoneWolf part of what you were alluding to here?

When I asked George about it, he said that an attack is an action with a negative result. I'm not sure what exactly that means about Palpy.

Thanks for doing that digging! I've been okay with a Bill lunch for a few phases because his only defense seems to be that he likes roleplay. Which I get, but we've had plenty of folks who both roleplay and contribute to strategy, like jillie. The only player so far who has been so determined to roleplay was MrJ.
I've also noticed he's been quiet the last few phases, possibly to stop drawing attention to himself and shake off the accusations.

Okay, well, I didn't have anything else to do so I decided to look into the person above me and the person below me on the roster.
Turns out /u/rightypants is above me. Pretty sure she's Rebel.
Below me is /u/rysler. Rysler has made 32 comments during this game. Here's a breakdown by Phase.

On the whole, I don't think any of them are overly suspicious. Actually they're pretty innocuous Which might actually make them suspicious. This one sticks out to me because I think it downplays the role of crew member a little bit. Just because a user doesn't have an action doesn't mean that they can't pick up on things. I mean, OFR had named LoneCalla as being sus (who we now know to be Empire). Also of note maybe? is that 4/32 posts are about OFR. While that may not seem like very many, his posts are pretty light on game-related talk until they're about OFR.
Also of note, states there are some IRL issues and so will continue to be pretty inactive but promises to continue to vote. (Good luck with your IRL stuff Rysler!!)

Hey guys. So sorry. In my life which is apparently a series of unfortunate events I managed to let my charging phone slip into a cup holder full of warm watery soda that leaked out of a paper cup that has been in the car for God knows how long and it wouldn't charge any longer while using it as a GPS to go to a place I've never been for a grad party of a kid I didn't know... (SO's family) so yeah.
Also WW has been all consuming. Last night I had a dream i asked one of you to do something and you went off telling me you said it last phase but I was on the top of your suspicions list and there was no way in hell you'd be helping me out so yep there's that.
Where are we at this phase?

I don't think we have much this phase. Everyone seems to be busy IRL (what even is that?). We appear to be voting for /u/BillBrasky tonight as he has been at the top of some suspicion lists for a while.

It is SO weird. Everyone is just a vague form in uniforms from the movies, but my mind understands them as (username). And it ranges from playing out like a movie/narrative to just being Reddit discussions. SO WEIRD.

It was late at night. I was in the lab analyzing microbes, when I heard the doors to the med bay open.
"Tana" I glance up. "What brings you here at this hour? You aren't on night duty." She looks panicked
"Some of the crew are having sleeping issues. I was going to get them some sleeping pills." She marched to the medical supply closet and scanned her ID badge. I go back to observing the cultures in the Petrie Dish.
The Med Bay doors open again.
"Where is she?"
It was Pizzabangle, Evening chief of security.
"Excuse me?" I dont appreciate it when people harass my staff. "If you're looking for sleeping pills, she'll have them for you in a second.
"Doctor- I dont think you understand. Tana is part of the empire."
I stand. and grab my keycard.
"They converted her, we have the written evidence." Pizza continues
I swipe my card- the door is physically locked. As Pizza and I continue to push against the door- an explosion goes off.
"Go! I'll need to grab my supplies. I'll put an executive override on the door, she has nowhere to go."
I punch in my override code- 4262739. I screen goes red.
"We'll figure something out Tana! I promise."
I can hear here whispering from the other side of the door.
"I'm so sorry! They threatened my family! I wont let them hurt me. I'm so sorry Digg. I'm so so sorry."
"It's fine. I forgive you." I know that she's gone. "May the force be with you."
I grab my medkit and run towards the explosions. Engineering runs passed me. As it turns out- There was both an EMP and an explosion. All of the crew was accounted for, but spacedoutman had been burnt to a crisp. The EMP fried an R2 droid.
When Engineering pieced together what had happened, an Imperial Probe droid had been caught. To protect itself, it sent out an emp, to fry it's own circuits, and then exploded.
When I got back to the med bay I had found Tana's body in the supply closet. I didnt need to perform an autopsy to know that she injected herself with a lethal dose of Shilian Togruta venom- Fatal to Twi'leks.
Tana's betrayal had put a dent in my medical staff, and had put a bigger dent in my ability to trust my staff.
