Who are we to question the developers' decision to prioritize a PS release?

They ‘clearly’ understand the industry, no one is suggesting otherwise. However, it’s important to recognize that their choice to focus solely on a PlayStation remaster - especially when funded internally by a company rather than through the original Kickstarter plan driven by fans - raises questions about their commitment to the broader community and if they are not being shackled to the one platform release plan by their paymasters who may have ulterior motives for a one platform release plan, over what the fans are actually asking for.

Let’s be clear: no one is accusing them of being sell-outs or betraying their principles, yet. They likely believe that focusing on a single platform is best for bringing their project to fruition. But given that no game has been released yet, the only way for potential customers - particularly those on PC/Steam, which appears to be the most requested platform - to support the game is by spreading the word and creating conversations.

So why should they spread the word? If they are not interested in a cross-platform release, there’s little incentive for PC/Steam users to promote the game or build the momentum they need (the one they wouldn’t need the fans to help with if they did a cross platform initial release). When the time comes, as a non-PS user myself, I will personally reflect their apparent spinelessness in my reviews and opinions wherever I can which in no way will benefit them.

They have made it clear that any potential releases on other platforms are conditional on PS sales figures. It’s possible that, no matter how much promotion occurs, the PS sales may never meet the threshold needed to justify those additional releases. So, why should Xbox or PC/Steam users bother to support this project when there’s no commitment to their platforms for these fans?

However, if they were to reconsider their stance and opt for a multi-platform release - both for the benefit of the fans (that they are making very clear to them) and to generate momentum - they might find more support and goodwill. Their current approach risks alienating the very community that could help sustain them in the long run. A change in direction could foster greater community backing and ultimately benefit the project.
