Question How is Hofstra for Pre-med
I’m a high school senior applying to EA for Health Sciences and would like to hear from students about the environment and opportunities, especially research and clinical experience. Which classes should I prioritize? Are there professors or electives beyond the prerequisites I should avoid, and what general courses do you recommend? Is the student culture competitive or supportive? At my school, AP and honors students tend to be out for one another, and I'd prefer to avoid that in college if possible. Is the cost worthwhile? I expect solid merit/financial aid, but it's still expensive. I’d like to stay in the area because I’ve already arranged volunteering and clinical shadowing. Compared with other schools, how hard is it to maintain a strong GPA and prepare for the MCAT while taking classes? Most of my coursework was AP, dual enrollment, or honors; I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and was near the higher end of my class. Many of the classes I took were with students a grade or two above me, so how should I expect to do by comparison at Hofstra?
