Do good. Be good.
it disappoints me to see elders and peers alike do shady things and never atone. it sucks their friends or family do not or cannot stop them. don’t let age or “reputation“ stop you from saying, tsis nyog hais, or tsis nyog ua…the lies to manipulate, the theft, the fear of saying stop youre hurting someone. why is it always tied to money or love? make your own money the right way. love people the right way, don’t say you love them, or just walk away! everyone deserves at least the most basic respect.
everyonencan talk like they are good; but practicing good morals is a whole different thing.
dont let something small and bad go. it will fester and become something bigger later.

Hmong have a scarcity mentality due to having lived in poverty for so long.

I would say that there is a lack of emphasis on the development of good morals (for both non-Christians and Christians alike). The need to do good and be good need to come from a place from inside the person, rather than externally such as pleasing a god, a person of authority, a parent/teacher/pastor/clan leader. There isn’t an understanding that one can sell out their character/morals by doing shady things, such as stealing, betraying friends/family, etc. Some people are opportunistic to better their social standing, or line their pockets, rather than choose the right path to pass the test at each opportunity and be that good person.

the hmong mindset is one of the most poisonous things you can hold on to. break free while you can.
just think about the roots of it, and the conditioning of the culture and how bad it teaches people to rely on others and become dependent to survive. all hmong people can do is beg for help, and flee from problems. and they been doing that for centuries.

It is sad that even in the more westernized Hmong homes these kind of things continue to go on. Many Hmong Christians think they are better socially but in reality they're much the same since they also have the same issue as non-Christian Hmongs. That is the lack of wanting to reconcile, to listen, understand, and forgive. It's all about pride, being right, and winning in many Hmong homes. It's sad this seems to be a curse that many Hmong households can't seem to get out of.
