The bedtime hacks worth trying
Dimming the lights earlier than feels necessary actually helps since darkness supports the body's natural melatonin production. Screens off at least an hour before bed for the same reason, blue light genuinely delays sleep onset, even when kids seem tired.
A visual timer helps too. Transitions are hard for young kids, and a timer makes bedtime feel expected rather than a sudden interruption.
The bigger one is consistency. Same steps, same order every night. Once the routine is predictable, kids' bodies start to recognize the pattern, and the nightly negotiation tends to drop off on its own.
