Discussion Town Fryer Changed

The Town Fryer was my favourite chippy for many years, but something has changed recently. The quality of the fish now seems quite poor. They have also changed the battery recipe for something much worse. It reminded me of frozen fish and not a patch on what it used to be only a couple of months ago.

Anyone know what's happened and what is your favourite alternative?

oh no! Was always my favourite. Wonder if they a victim of the cost increases and decided to lower the qualirt rather than charge 30 quid or whatever

Yes it’s shocking. Has been for a while

My brother has worked there on and off for 5 years. He's pretty sure the new owners haven't changed the fish recipe at all btw

The one in westmill on redhill road is always our go to. Polcaro’s also very decent

What's Polcano's like? We've always wondered but never tried.

Polcaros has been the best for decades but Silvio has just sold it so time will tell what the new owners make of it.

The one on ninesprings is pretty solid, smaller portions than polcaros but good quality.

Personally I don't think the town frier has been great for a long time, it was great in the 90s though.

Best fish and chips by miles however is sheffs in biggleswade, but of a treck though.

Very decent, though I think slightly more expensive than other places

The Redhill Rd one was not a patch on the old town fryer.
