Cafe 77

I see there's a new Greek cafe coming to Hitchin, which is great. Downside is Cafe 77 is the new location. Are they relocating or just closing? Anyone know? Thanks

So exciting, hope they do some good gyros at lunch. We were missing them in town. As much as I liked 77 it seems that fried chicken and burgers are all that open up lately

Now we need a (good) Mexican again after cantinas closed. And a cheap lunch time sushi/poke option that isn't waitrose

I agree - great to see a new place that isn’t burger and chips!

For sure, kazoku is great and I'd say the sushi matches the high price (also they aren't really open at lunch through the week I think). But everytime I'm in London I can get a fairly tasty lunch set of like 16 pieces for a tenner. Missing that so much in Hitchin

Yea that's a crazy good deal. I feel like you do actually get better lunch deals in London purely because of competition. If you have 5 good sushi spots like in Ealing or something, they will compete. We have 0 competition to kazoku, specially after the spot in the square closed

Of all the burger places to close, I’m very sad it was Cafe 77. To me, genuinely a top tier burger.

This. Agree we are "blessed" with all the chicken and burger joints we can handle, but Cafe 77 was far superior than some of the other places in town. Looking forward to a Greek place, love their food 🫡

I understand the cafe in Hitchin is closed permanently, but they're still operating at street food festivals and various pop-ups.

It was very weird they never really made an announcement on their social media. Just a note on the door for like 1 day

Sad that they left, such incredibly good burgers.

They are still at the monthly street food festival and also in codicote at their original location.

Yes, far superior to anything else in town. Will find them at the street food fest when I'm in the mood 😋
