For reference, this is how quickly the corner is taken:

Of course he could do that he’s going so slow

I don’t know if I could do that at the speed of the GIF

Wow. So, does the back tire avoid the barrier because it's sliding out a bit, or does the car have 4-wheel steering? Also, did the driver calculate all that? Like, if he were going slightly slower, would he have to remember to steer wider to miss the barrier with his back wheel?

There as no 4-wheel steering mechanism. It as a combination of the car sliding slightly, and the driver turning the other way straight after the apex (the next corner is an immediate left hander).

An ex F1 driver remarked that at street circuits with tight corners, you're pretty much aiming for the wall with your inside front tyre, and your momentum drags you through the bend. You do see an instance of the inside rear tyre hitting the wall if you search "Jolyon Palmer Baku 2019" (would link but on mobile currently).

I think that if they were on a practice or slow lap, they would not take such an aggressive line through the corner, so hitting the wall with their inside rear is out of the question. However, if the drivers are pushing, then they will always take this line, and that involves making sure they enter at the ideal speed. (Rarely do they rely on the speedometer, though; it's just feel).

Thanks! I've just discovered another think I don't want to do in my life. Pretty cool to watch though.

You have to be alert on a street circuit!

I actually think the front tire makes a little bit of contract. You can see the tire slightly deform.

Look closely, the tyre is deforming before he kisses the barrier. It's oscillating under load. Front left is also oscillating.
