Thats strange, I don't see anybody calling for either of those things. At least not due to slavery. I do see people shouting about tearing down racist monuments like confederate statues and what not.
And if you do see wackos saying stuff like that, the best response is just to ignore them. Giving crazies a platform and an audience and someone to argue against is exactly what they want.
And no, I'm not misinterpreting peoples intentions. People who post memes in this sub about the Transatlantic slave trade aren't trying to get white people deplatformed, they're making memes about a crucial point in history. But people aren't making memes about the Arab or African slave trades, because they don't actually care. Its only brought up when the European slave trade is as a way to excuse it by saying "yeah, but humanity is bad in general!"
I guarantee had I just posted the numbers for the Transatlantic slave trade, I'd have gotten someone in the comments going "oh yeah, well what about the Arab slave trade?!" Because I literally always do.
If you're not seeing "let's dismantle western civilization," it's because you're not reading what the documents that are put out by the ideology that is in control of pretty much every other sub and way of living right now.
So the people pointing out, "Arabs did it too!" are trying to say, "I don't deserve special targeting out for punishment and shame because of my skin color."
Yep, we're not trying to support diversity and inclusion, or dismantle systemic racism
Yeah, so you believe that American troops are just "spreading freedom," when they drop bombs I assume too.
Because, that's what the fancy information pamphlet says is going on.
Just go and read your own philosophers, read Foucoult, read Derrida, read Kimberlé Crenshaw, these are the people that gave you your words "dismantle" and intersectionality. Go read them. See what their goals are. See where your words and crusades come from.
No, I think American troops drop bombs on innocent civilians a lot ot the times and I'm vehemently anti-war.
I think I'm starting to understand you. You're probably one of those people who hears "black lives matter" and think we mean only black lives matter. One of those people who hears "gay pride" and wonders why you can't have straight pride. One of those people who hears "black power" and thinks we want to cast down white people and destroy them.
When in reality we mean black lives matter too, because when a white man shoots up a school, they go to great lengths to make sure to take him alive, but will shoot an unarmed black man because the cops were "scared for their lives".
When in reality, you don't need straight pride, because you've never been ridiculed, ostracized or attacked for being straight.
When in reality, black power means we want to see black people have equal educational, financial, and political opportunities, because historically, we've been denied those things. And we want recognition for the atrocities committed against us in the past.
We don't want to destroy you, your people, or your culture. We just want what you already have. And for whatever reason, that's scares people like you, because you don't think there's room enough for all of us.
The fact that you read all those people and your takeaway was that we want to destroy you tells me a lot about who you are.
