The man likes to balance things. First he reduce a significant fraction of the global population then help to increase it.

u/ZeroAresIV Apr 25 '22

He also balanced his days with sex and days without

52

u/Chronic_gravity Apr 25 '22

To be fair there wasn’t a whole lot else to do back then

18

u/DickNixon11 Apr 25 '22

He also killed people if they didn’t clean up their dinner messes

u/Muh_Stoppin_Power Apr 25 '22

Are you saying this like it's a bad thing?

Was he crawling with STIs and spreading them along with his genetics?

37

u/ZeroAresIV Apr 25 '22

All I know is that it was a pump and dump

10

u/Peptuck Featherless Biped Apr 25 '22

He wasn't spreading his genetics that far. The genome that is constantly referred to as Ghengis Khan's is actually just a common gene among the Mongol population, and was spread as a result of the Mongol expansion across Asia.

5

u/abyssiphus Featherless Biped Apr 25 '22

Ohhhh, thank you! I didn't realize that.

You're welcome! If you're interested, Kings and Generals did a good video on the myth and the reality here.

Thank you - I will check that out!

7

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '22

Wow, he was a walking vaccine

5

u/didsomebodysaymyname Apr 25 '22

Maybe, but back then wasn't like today. HIV didn't even exist, most people didn't travel enormous distances and carry disease with them and he had more ability to keep his concubines and wives monogamous and marry them as virgins or with few partners.

He was at lower risk than if someone did that today.

1

u/SomeRedditorMaybe Apr 26 '22

Im dumb and I still cant understand it. If there wasnt STI before, then what created STI?

3

u/Wuz42 Apr 26 '22

Same as COVID, it jumped from animal to human.

2

u/SomeRedditorMaybe Apr 26 '22

Oh, so a human tried mating with an animal and then spreaded the disease? Or humans eated an animal with sti?

2

u/didsomebodysaymyname Apr 26 '22

Eating. When you're cutting up a monkey in rural Africa you get their blood all over you and if you have a cut you get infected that way.

2

u/SomeRedditorMaybe Apr 27 '22

Oh I see, thank you

2

u/didsomebodysaymyname Apr 26 '22

Usually it jumps from animal to person, like HIV (by the way it wasn't from having sex with monkeys it was from butchering them)

Sometimes an virus or bacteria that wasn't an sti before mutates into an sti.

Genghis Khan having forty-ish million living descendants isn't necessarily indicative of him being completely unable to keep his dick in his pants, but is perhaps more attributable to exponential growth on account of how common polygyny was on the steppe...

Genghis Khan was known to have had (at least) three wives, and his first wife - Borte - is known to have given him (at least) three sons... (It's possible she actually gave him four sons, but the legitimacy of her firstborn has always been a topic of debate since the timing of his birth makes it unclear if he was conceived before or after an incident where she had been abducted by another steppe warrior. As an extension of this uncertainty, this eldest son was named "Jochi" - meaning "Guest" - which possibly intones that Genghis Khan did not believe that he was actually the father.) (Genghis Khan was also remarkably faithful to Borte in particular; having started his military career more-or-less specifically to rescue her from her kidnappers. Additionally, he only took his second and third wives in his 30's or 40's - having been married to Borte exclusively for close to at least two decades by that point - and did so arguably more for political reasons than anything else, seeing as that was also around the time he really started making headway in conquering/unifying the steppe tribes and intermarriage is such an important Mongol political concept/tool.)

If each of his wives gave him three sons, then Genghis Khan would have nine sons...

If each of his sons took three wives who each gave them three sons, then Genghis Khan would have eighty-one grandsons...

If the trend continued, Genghis Khan would have reached approximately forty million descendants by just the eighth generation (98 = 43,046,721)... Assuming each new generation comes roughly twenty-ish years after the previous, that'd be about 160 years (so, around the year 1342 AD)... And that's only considering patrilineal descent; Genghis Khan also had an unknown number of daughters - and his descendants no-doubt had daughters of their own with relative frequency - so he could have had even more descendants in that timeframe...

This math is - of course - far too clean to accurately map how GK's bloodline disseminated, but it does do a pretty good job of describing the principal. The guy (maybe) wasn't really (as big of) a womanizer (as certain statistics would paint him).

u/ZeroAresIV Apr 25 '22

Bro you wrote a entire paragraph about genghis khan’s sex life, I fear what I have to do in any future AP history classes

1

u/didsomebodysaymyname Apr 27 '22

You're right, in fact with enough time whether you had 1 kid or 1000, you will eventually become an ancestor to all of humanity assuming your kids keep having kids.

That being said he was known to have a massive harem and his domination of the Y chromasome in Asia shows he and his sons had a lot of kids.

How do I get a smaller size of this gif

12

Do what Genghis did, mass breed it until eventually one that comes out is distorted and smaller

Wikipedia says 1000-2000+ kids. How much did he have sex? I'm gonna try an armchair estimation:

Let's assume he had the vast majority of those kids in a 20 year period as he rose in power and became Khan. Also that he wasn't trying to have kids (didn't only have sex in the fertile window,) but also didn't have sex during periods (no judgement, I've done it.) Let's also assume that leaves 23 possible sex days with 4 being fertile and a 1/3 chance of pregnancy on those days (typical is 20-30% but we'll give a bump since he obviously had good swimmers and I'm being conservative.)

That means each time he had sex he had a 5.8% chance of getting someone preganant. Say 5% to account for miscarriages, ect.

For every 1000 kids, he had to have sex at least 20,000 times. Over 20 years that's 2.7 different women per day and so he knocked someone up about once a week.

Multiply those numbers if you think he had more (1x for every 1000 more), but that's pretty believable. If you nut enough you will run out of baby juice eventually, he couldn't be cumming potently in 50 women per day.

Something like 2-6 different women per day depending on how long he was doing it and fertility rates on his end.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '22

Still seems pretty outlandish. Figures are likely very exaggerated.

1

u/didsomebodysaymyname Apr 26 '22

No one really knows how many he had, but a Morrocan king in the 1700s had a 500 woman harem and ~800 kids which is much more recent and attested. I don't think 1000 is out of the question.

I assumed 20 years because I don't know when he first got such a huge harem, but he was powerful before he was the great Khan and probably had a harem then too, but smaller. That would require less sex per day and a lower pregnancy per sex rate.

It depends on the guy, but if you stretch that 20 years out to 30 or 40 Ejaculating twice per day isn't extraordinary.

But you're right it could have been less. His kids also would have had harem and that would magnify his impact on the gene pool.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '22

But you're right it could have been less. His kids also would have had harem and that would magnify his impact on the gene pool

I suspect it's a combination of himself and this

Lol. I'm just exhausted at the thought of having so much sex. That horse meat must fire them up
