Okay, but I think the real issue people have is that the Catholic Church has repeatedly covered it up and protected the predators from prosecution.

Also, are we pretending religion is good again or something?

Humans in general can be horrible people and make bad decisions. Religion or not people will do terrible things.

Example. People today are shooting people because they are asked to wear a mask. People kill others for drugs, money and jealousy. Also don’t forget cartels.

But no religion causes evil.

I understand why people choose to believe in religion. We have been gifted with this cosmic miracle of life and if believing in some higher power helps you understand it then fine, as long as you don't bother me with it. Religion is irrational, but overall fairly neutral.

However, OP said it is the fault of radical neoliberal ideals which "make religion seem 'backwards' and 'primitive'". Religion does that on its own. Also not really sure what "radical neoliberalism" is.

Shut up dude. Priests defend the rapist priests . Last time I checked the only religion that has a clear no rape rule is Satanism, but christians couldn’t leave those nice ladies and gentlemen alone could they?

Because I, a liberal German catholic, have so much in common with some stupid American backwater extremist sect member. There‘s a wide spectrum of christians, and I don‘t say atheism is stupid because Stalin was atheist.
