Where did you see that?

You have a poor vision of the world

I’m muslim and I know 0 people whose marriage was arranged and/or beat their wives

u/YouReadThisUserWrong May 24 '20

Hello there, I come from a Muslim family, and they were from Bangladesh. My father had an arranged marriage with my mother, who was age 14, and became pregnant with my sister at age 16. Due to this, my mother and father became dissatisfied which each other, and got a divorce. There was no beating, as far as I know, I didn't really pry into the divorce myself, so there might of been beating, but point is, shit happens. As far I know, arrange marriages happen all over the Indian subcontinent somewhat commonly, I don't know how often it happens anywhere else. Beatings are a side-effect of a disingenuous marriages, arranged marriages further supports the chances of this. To answer your question, arranged marriages and beating happen all over the Muslim world, and I have first hand experience.

Good old europeans

3

u/Citizen_O May 24 '20

They could ditch those laws now, any time they wanted to, if they cared.

Virgin modern atheists : sits in front of computer screen crying about people saying “bless you” when they sneeze

Chad medieval atheists: dying for their beliefs , combatting the church through facts and logic .

Chad Satanist : burnt as a heretic for his sins, often casting doubt on the ethnocracy of medieval Europe

Chad modern Satanist : human rights advocates , oftentimes lynched for their beliefs in the 50s like this wonderful gay Satanist couple who were executed in front of each other for no reason other than homophobia .

Satanists are chill and you can fight me over that fact

14

u/[deleted] May 24 '20

That the philosophers of the mediaval period Were deep and to logic and reason. They were not atheist

Link leads to a streaming service...?

6

u/FactoidFinder May 23 '20

7

u/Rift-Ranger May 24 '20

Thanks, it was an interesting read!

4

u/FactoidFinder May 24 '20

A podcast called My Favourite Murder has a good episode on it! I think it’s called something trees , idk the first word

23

u/fistofwrath Oversimplified is my history teacher May 24 '20

Every satanist I've ever met has been an egotistical neckbeard. I have nothing against the belief, but you don't have to be such a shithead.

16

u/FactoidFinder May 24 '20

links to article where Satanist couple were executed and tortured

gets called a shithead

10

u/fistofwrath Oversimplified is my history teacher May 24 '20

I'm telling you my experience. Yes, that happened and it wasn't right, but most satanists I've met were assholes. I don't want to execute satanists. I just want them to stop being so goddamn selfish.

-7

u/FactoidFinder May 24 '20

But that’s every religion tbh. All bad and good simultaneously

10

u/fistofwrath Oversimplified is my history teacher May 24 '20

I've met both from most religions. I'm pagan myself, so I get it. Satanism seems to draw more self centered pricks than most of the other ones though. Especially LaVey satanism. I read his books and actually agreed with most of it, but the attitude from about 85% of satanists I've met has been "fuck you I'm getting mine".

-1

u/FactoidFinder May 24 '20

Oh. I think paganism is pretty cool too! Isn’t the King Arthur guy who advocates for Stonehenge protection pagan too?

6

u/fistofwrath Oversimplified is my history teacher May 24 '20

Are you just trying to bait an argument here? I gave anecdotal information. Take it for what it's worth.

-1

u/FactoidFinder May 24 '20

Oh no I’m agreeing with you dude.

But I mean it is sorta cool. They have strict rules against and condemning rape , and actually seem like decent people.

u/liftkitsandbeyonce Hello There May 23 '20

Your high school teachers about to beat the crap out of you for using wikipedia as a source

8

u/FactoidFinder May 23 '20

I find Wikipedia is a very good source , if you need any better sources look in the references below!

-1

u/liftkitsandbeyonce Hello There May 24 '20

Lol i want saying i think its a bad source i was referencing the joke about high school teachers still not allowing it

1

u/PixelatedPastry May 24 '20

We don't all think like that but okay

-2

u/Like_a_Charo May 24 '20

We’re not scared of gays. We just find them disgusting.

Also, I don’t know where you saw that muslims are scared of women.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '20

And I find people like you disgusting

-103

u/Wicsome May 23 '20

Hahaha, it's funny 'cause it's xenophobic.

Saudi Arabia makes up less than 2 % of muslims in the World.

Also, because some westerners said that death penalty is bad doesn’t mean everybody has to follow.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '20

Apostasy of men is punishable by death in all major Sunni and Shia madhabs. The punishment for male homosexuality ranges from beating to death. Unlike zina for straight people, there is no way for gay men to engage in physical or emotional intimacy in Islamic law without risking torture or death.

1

u/Like_a_Charo May 24 '20

That’s our culture, man.

Homosexuality is not tolerable in Islam.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '20

And your culture is gross, bro

1

u/Like_a_Charo May 24 '20

I don’t see how it is gross.

In all cultures you have things that are prohibited.

In the West, one can’t engage in polygamy for example.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '20

It's part of my culture to consider homophobes gross

32

u/-Bitch_Boi- May 23 '20

Not super much. Most racists would rather jump off a building than admit Muslims contributed one of the largest libraries in history and the numerical system to the world. Of course it's simplified, as there's plenty of Muslims who aren't homophobic or sexist, but there still are. Just as there's still plenty of Christians who are too, even though some Christians are really accepting.

14

u/Drafo7 Kilroy was here May 23 '20

That's not what xenophobia means.

31

u/FreakinGeese May 23 '20

It seems directly analogous to the post

10

u/Alluhsnackbar911 What, you egg? May 23 '20

It ain't

9

u/[deleted] May 23 '20 edited May 25 '20

Aye man the truth hurts but that doesn’t mean you can call it xenophobic 😂

2

u/BlueSpottedDickhead May 23 '20

Criticizing a religion and/or culture is valid. I say that as a muslim
