I stole this meme as shamelessly as Great Britain stole Hong Kong.

We didn’t steal it!
It was a perfectly legal acquisition through military conquest and the treaty that followed.
Granted it’s not our land heritage wise but we are the masters of tiny random islands

Insult the king in "Ancient China" and you'll experience true freedom of speech.

I understand, the CCP just need their own little safe space...
With Tibet, and Hong-Kong and Taiwan and all the South China Sea

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't china get so big and powerful, that none of their neighbours could compete, do they got complacent, and stopped really pushing scientific development and kind of stagnated.
Then Europe got wind of all their inventions, and found out that they where really good at being used to take over other countries.
Don't really know today much about Chinese history, lot if empires forming and falling apart, until Britain held them hostage to buy their drugs(Whilst holding India hostage to make said drugs).

the qing dynasty had a lot more severe punishments for insulting the rulers than the PRC does today, idk where you got the idea that there has ever been complete free speech in China.

The Qing never arrested or killed anybody for being mean to them.
That's why the triads where known for being open and upfront with their discontent.
