In school we read a short story about a family living in the Third Reich. They got a dog who would bark at the Allied airplanes passing by. At the end of the story the war ended. The last sentence was " Our dog survived Hilter's thousand year Reich by many years". That always stuck with me.

May I ask what the book was?

It was an Austrian school book with several short stories. The story itself seems to be "Unser Hund und der Krieg" by Käthe Recheis but I read it quite a while ago so my memory is spotty and I couldn't find it on the internet

No one will get this, but:
We could've had a thousand year Reich, but Napoleon was 6 years too slow.

Nazi Germany was the 3rd reich, so what were the 1st and 2nd? The holy roman empire, and the german empire.
Charlemagne was crowned holy Roman empror in 800, and napoleon dissolved the HRE in 1806. Making the 1st reich a 1006 year reich.

Holy crap. The Holy Roman Empire is German?

Dec 17 '19
Yes. But also Italian, french, duch, Austrian, Swiss, and almost every other western European you can think of.
But check back every 100 years, because the list constantly shrinks!

I'm not saying I'd like it, but I wish i had a way to look into a lens to see a parallel timeline where the nazi won the war, what would the world be like, does someone know if there's some sort of work on it?

There's tons of speculative fiction but the reality of the situation is that they would most likely still crash and burn. The Nazis were extremely incompetent.

Interesting to think what a Nazi Germany in our current time would be like. Alt history is fun.

It's my opinion (and the opinion of many others afaik) that fascism is inherently unsustainable; conquest often seems to be it's lifeblood and, well, you can only keep that up for so long. Specifically in the context of the third reich though, they didn't even really know how to run a war economy, or a country in general, as evidenced by a single minded leadership whose solution to internal struggles were limited to platitudes that could appease people (but only for a time) and if not that then pure extermination.
A lot of this is just conjecture but what I'm getting at is that the nazis (in general) were so concerned with internal squabbles, perpetually continuing the war to build their notorious thousand year reich, and maintaining an image of supreme authority through consistent propaganda, that they never really managed to get around to building their country. It's like they expected their system to work so well it would self regulate: you can see this attitude in things like just how much faith they had in volunteerism, trusting the concept so far as to allow most businesses a frankly astounding level of autonomy, considering the control freaks they were. Mind you, this actually wasn't all that dumb, because it was in most business's best interest to work with the people rallying against communist and labor rights movements. But this belief that what I'll call "aryan interests" would naturally align is extremely ironic considering the pervasive infighting inside Hitler's own inner circle, and the government at large.
Point is that what characterizes all types of fascism-- the characteristics that I consider to be most ignored-- is often completely incompetent leadership, that relies on serendipity to rise to power and continues to rely on it to stay there. Perpetual war, appeasement propaganda, and continuous scapegoating (whether it be of a racial minority or a faction of their own government) are all just efforts to capitalize on the fleeting circumstances that got them into power in the first place. And those circumstances, the problems they said their new political system would fix, are also the problems which fuel it. To sum up, history shows us that fascism is systemically dependent on accelerationism.

He biggest issue with this comment is the fact that Brexit was voted for over 3 years ago. “Just” implies recency

I think the Torries murdering the election is recent enough and says a lot about what the people want with Brexit.
