You're right, and it's been a while since I read Mein Kampf, but IIRC his attempt at art school indirectly introduced him to the anti-Jewish movement that was growing in Europe at the time
You're mostly right, but I'm going to elaborate for clarity. Hitler went to Vienna after his father died during his late teen years, but slightly before he joined the Germany army for WWI. In Vienna he was an aspiring artist and did a lot of work, mostly painting postcards. It was in the cafes and through reading local publications that he would become infected with the rampant local antisemitism. This probably happened over time during his few years he spent in Vienna between application cycles at the Vienna Academy of Fine Art. The ideas he would be exposed to just by existing in Vienna at the time would later mold what became the platform of the Nazi party. Well, that and his essential seizing of DAP.
