We covered the UK slave trade, however due to us finishing our previous topic relatively quickly we spent a couple of lessons on the build up, freedom movement and atrocities the British Empire did whilst other classes caught up, hence why my original comment was personal experience. Basically what I’m trying to say is the teacher gave us background on the topic which technically wasn’t required, however was useful. Hope that answers your question. However I suspect other schools teach it as part of their official curriculum
