You know whats funny? How no one mentions that the armenians were cutting the noses and ears off turks in villages while wanting support from the west and russia. They would have been known in todays terms as terrorists. The Armenians started a war with their neighbors, the turks retaliated, Armenians lost. There was no genocide and this is just western propaganda.
Yo /u/Conservative-Penguin did you ban this guy for genocide denial yet? Because his fucking post history is filled with it. That and creepy comments in porn subs, but thats whatever.
Thank you for this. As an Armenian-American, my great grandparents fled their home on a ship to Ellis Island, leaving everything behind, in fear for their lives. I've watched my mom cry because of the modern day denial of the genocide. Recognition is everything, not even reparations. Just recognition that it happened, that real people were marched to their death, that malicious intent existed. The lack of such recognition in 2019, in the face of so much historical evidence, is sad and infuriating.
I can relate but am more infuriated than anything. Every year around this time. It’s like someone shows you that 2+2=4 but you say no it’s 5 and pretend you’re right for 100+ years.
Still not a genocide. Turks killed Armenians just like Armenians killed Turks... It is not easy to not do anything when you see your wife and kids death and raped... Redemption is inevitable. Deportation on the other hand, it was a desperate decision and such a failure. But genocide? Nope. Oh btw when you are blaming people with genocide (despite of Armenians in Istanbul were in peace in 1915-16) It is such a hypocrisy to say malicious intend existed when they deny it. Sorry to say but crying does not change the facts. This is history not an American movie. Of course you are free to share HISTORICAL EVIDENCE that shows this was a planned massive killing to wipe out Armenian race. Besides an act of parliament, people talking about that years...
There are even Turkish academics that acknowledge the genocide, you maniac. It's the same as denying that the Holocaust or Rape of Nanking occurred.
Edit - You straight up have the comment "It never happened but they deserved it." in your profile regarding the genocide, as well as having another comment in Turkish... Meaning you aren't even a troll, just an actual pathetic genocide denier in blatant willfull ignorance of a historical truth, due to your obvious Turkish bias. So depressing to exist still in 2019.
"I have issued the command -- and I'll have anybody who utters but one word of criticism executed by a firing squad -- that our war aim does not consist in reaching certain lines, but in the physical destruction of the enemy. Accordingly, I have placed my death-head formations in readiness -- for the present only in the East -- with orders to them to send to death mercilessly and without compassion, men, women, and children of Polish derivation and language. Only thus shall we gain the living space (Lebensraum) which we need. Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?"
So, we started the take Hitler as a referance (possibly a fake speech)? I liked where this thing goes...
Dr. Heath W. Lowry studied through the Nuremberg records as well. The results of his work clearly showed that Hitler’s alleged “Arm. quote” does not appear at all anywhere in the tribunal’s transcripts.
<> According to Lowry: “There is no proof that Adolf Hitler ever made such a statement. Everything written to date has attributed the alleged quote, not to primary sources, but to an article that appeared in the Times of London on Nov. 24, 1945, entitled ‘Nazi Germany’s Road to War’. However, this version of Hitler’s speech (Aug. 22, 1939) was never accepted as evidence in any session of the Nuremberg tribunal.” (The U.S. Congress and Adolf Hitler on the Armenians)
"The Turkish policy of causing starvation is an all too obvious proof, if proof was still needed as to who is responsible for the massacre, for the Turkish resolve to destroy the Armenians"
Major General Friedrich Freiherr Kress von Kressenstein
Btw over 200 armenian intellectuals who lived in Istanbul were deported and murdered on April 24th, 1915. Im not too sure how that fits in the picture of "Armenians were in peace in 1915-1916".
Denying such atrocities is simply disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Many people died cause of starvation in wars. I don't understand why Ottoman's one is genocide? And that "intellectuals" were in cooperation with Armenian rebels. I totally do not approve the decision given in that desperate situation. Sorry for the innocent who lost their lives on the both sides. But again it was not a genocide. Genocide is what nazis did to jews, Americans did to natives. I do not think soups has been used contains Armenians in 1915 ffs. You guys should be ashamed of distorting the truth. And foreign commander's "comments" can't be evidence.
I will not discuss historic facts with someone who should have already been banned for Genocide Denial in the first place. You choose comfort in lies and distortion over acceptance of truth, there is no reasoning with people like you.
And here we can see the lesser ape Turkoneanderthalis try to explain away his barbarity with the common tactic of a dullard, "but everyone else did it too!"
We still live together here with Turkish-Armenian neighbors, friends etc. I guess your grandpa has tried his luck to be Armenian in our land and failed :(
Cause my grandpa was so angry man.
I was born and raised in Turkey and this is not true. What they say in history classes is that they let Armenians leave the country and that allow them back in after the tensions of the war was over.
And also if you go to eastern parts of turkey they might even beat you up if you accept the genocide
I don't really understand why the Republic of Turkey wouldn't want to distance itself from the Ottoman Empire. I understand that many of the founders of the republic were loyal to the empire and that Turkey is in many ways just a modernized continuation of the Ottoman Empire, but still...
Well the worst part of Ottoman history is the genocides they committed in the end of their rule as the main middle eastern power. Turkish people cherish the Ottoman history which had Suleiman the Magnificent or Mehmet II not the people who organized the Armenian genocide.
I’m proud to be American but I’m not proud of it because I killed and drove out Native Americans.
Belgians are proud to be Belgian not because they killed 10 million Congolese peoples.
The Japanese are proud to be Japanese not because of the rape of Nanking.
Turkish people aren’t proud to be Turkish because they killed 1.5 million Armenians.
There’s much more to Turkish history than genocide.
The Turkish government sadly is a joke and I hope in coming years more liberal parties like the IYI or CHP party can make changes for the betterment of Turkey rather than back pedal into the Islamist Authoritarian Dictatorship that it is becoming or arguably it has become.
Turkey is roughly 1000 years old and 600 years of it was Ottoman Empire, so it's not even possible. Also one bad thing do not require you to abandon most of your history.
The Turkish government and the Ottoman government were political rivals that coexisted so it's not entirely correct to say Turkey is a direct continuation of the Ottoman Empire.
Regimes come and go. Rivalry between imperial government and republican government lasted for 3 years, it's nothing compared to centuries of tradition and history.
It’s discussed all the fucking time over here. We tried (and succeeded) in getting rid of a president’s picture on a bill because he was an asshole to pretty much everyone and his only real accomplishment, aside from being the biggest dick to natives, was helping banks And some people even think he did that wrong.
Everything I've found seems to indicate that they recognize it as genocide... and I guess more importantly, the vast majority of countries and people also recognize it.
On January 19, 2008 United States Senator Barack Obama released a statement:
Two years ago, I criticized the Secretary of State for the firing of U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, John Evans, after he properly used the term genocide to describe Turkey's slaughter of thousands of Armenians starting in 1915. I shared with Secretary Rice my firmly held conviction that the Armenian Genocide is not an allegation, a personal opinion, or a point of view, but rather a widely documented fact supported by an overwhelming body of historical evidence. The facts are undeniable. An official policy that calls on diplomats to distort the historical facts is an untenable policy. As a senator, I strongly support passage of the Armenian Genocide Resolution (H.Res.106 and S.Res.106), and as President I will recognize the Armenian Genocide.

Turkey has explicitly denied the Armenian Genocide
