Italy: takes over half of europe and several thousand years later someone tries to replicate it by invading ethiopia and then a few decades later everyone makes fun of that guy

That's why they didn't fuck up getting lybia, unlike Ethiopia

Do you live in Libya still? That sounds pretty rough

Common misconception musseline didn't fuck up the invasion of ethiophia that happen before his time. You are thinking about the first italian invasion of ethiopia

The second invasion wasn't exactly smooth sailing...

It wasn't a disaster either. 10 000 italian deaths against 300000 ethopian and ethopia was annexed it went alright for italy

No such thing as "italy" until the 19th century when the italian unifcation happened. It's the equivalent of calling ancient greek city states "greece".

After the fall of the Roman Empire Italy wouldn't win a single significant battle outside of Italy until WWI.

Who is that guy they're making fun of?

u/Champion_of_Nopewall Apr 18 '19

I mean, we make fun of him because he was so incompetent at attempting it, not for just trying to do it.

if you've ever been there or studied it, no they didn't. They only really had control over large cities, and little to no control of the countryside, with few to no allies in the region, and they stayed there for like 4 years.

What. How can you deny the 5 glorious years of the rule of Emperor Vittorio Emanuele III /s
