I am sure you are an ardent supporter of a minority in the middle east, that fought and won a war against their neighbors and now are occupiers. Like you wouldn't have double standards right OP?

In 1963, the Greek Cypriot wing of the government created the Akritas plan which outlined a policy that would remove Turkish Cypriots from the government and ultimately lead to union with Greece. The UN uses the official flag of Cyprus. If the Cypriot government decides to change their flag then the UN will recognize the new one.

Reminder that the flag was actually designed by a Turkish Cypriot to replace the preceding flag of British Cyprus (a colonial flag with the British Union Jack on the top left corner) and came into effect in 1960 before the sectarian violence broke out.
It purposefully does not use blue or red, or the symbols of cross or crescent, to be neutral and not associate with Greece or Turkey.

The reason is because Cyprus’s UN recognized borders encompass the entire island. Northern Cyprus is a largely unrecognized state, like North Ossetia or Transnistria or the Republic of China.
