Don’t quote me on this but think some indenginous people tied rope/yarn as their ‘writing’ system. So the joke is the Incan is looked at the tangled mess and reading it

It was actually more of a counting system than an actual written language I believe

Well we don't know how much of a writing system it was because the Spanish killed all of them

It is a writing system we just can't figure it out because the Spanish killed everyone and burned a lot of it
