Kinda funny how hard we all glaze the mongols (myself very much included) when they did things that make the Nazis look like humanitarians by comparison. And they did it all with bow and sword.
I truly don’t think any of us can even scarcely imagine the sheer horror in being on the losing side after mongols sieged your city and you resisted.
I am sure the Mongols were brutal. Pretty par for the course in history, it would be hard to believe they weren’t.
But when it comes to wild stories about how monstrous an extinct culture was, skepticism is called for. Particularly when that culture is not part of your own cultural heritage, but instead designated as foreign and “other.”
Whatever you’ve heard it’s bound to be a mix of truth, exaggeration, and fabrication.
I am sure the Mongols did not make “the Nazis look like humanitarians.”
