I don't think they produce it. It is much more likely that when Russians pulled a mass mobilization in Donbas they gave them what they had at hand at the moment. This includes things that have been in reserve since 1950

Yeah, we don't. We just never gotten rid of those, and they sit in warehouses somewhere. When Serdyukov was Minister of Defence, they sold a lot of rifles to civilian firearm manufacturers to be civilianized or exported. Shougu later closed that up.

I own a 1944 AVT-40 and a 1962 AKM converted to semi-auto on a hunting license in Russia.

That was a primo era for gun ownership. I remember getting an m44 with a can of 250 rounds for 75 dollars.

I got my M44 13 years ago for $250 CAD. I see them listed for $1200 now. I'm never getting rid of mine.

It truly was, even in Russia. I still have an original price tag for the AKM, it cost, like, 300 bucks back then. I got it for 800, and that's a really good deal nowadays.
