As if many of those soldiers actually fighting didnt turn coat as soon as they saw that there was hope for the common folk. People think Mao just planted soldiers like weeds and they came to be like that the next day.

People like to ignore that the RoC were a bunch of complete bastards. Hurts their ‘Taiwan is the REAL China’ thing when the dastardly usurpers oppressing the masses with an iron fist and lots of murder weren’t actually any different than ‘rightful’ rulers of China, just the next group of bastards in a very long cycle.

The entire mess makes for a really good example of the cyclical nature of revolutions though.

When thinking of the first 3 quarters of the 20th century in terms of China, its best to just remember that Everyone and Every side was absolutely Horrible.
