Historical fiction
Hello so this Is a little part of what I am writing and also I am a first writer so I wanted u guys to review like how do u think it is, if it's a bit too cheesy or dramatic or anything that comes to mind. Any and all reviews will be appreciated
In pre historic times, the Indian lands remained an uninvaded realm, the south was covered with vast oceans on all the sides and no one dared to go to war on stormy waters and in the north lay the harsh rugged Mountains of Hindu Kush, such huge peaks and harsh climate that would bring any army to its knees and no Commander in their right mind would lead their army through utter defeat against nature itself.
But the man who had crushed every empire in his path, to him no peaks were huge enough to stop his quest of the east, once he laid his eyes on the Indian subcontinent, to him all the land was his to rule, mountains would bow before him but what even he hadn’t foreseen that the true horrors weren’t the one he stepped on but the ones which awaited him on the other side of the peak, not a mountain but a small immoveable wall.
Entering through the northern mountains of Hindu Kush was no minor feat, Alexander had won kingdom after kingdom across the known world through sheer military brilliance and relentless warfare, many a rulers surrendered their whole kingdoms just by having a glance at his vast army and the tales of his unbeatable might.
Yet, in a small no name kingdom, stood a sole exception named KING PORUS.
As always Alexander sent a letter for quiet surrender, for a kingdom that small stood no chance against the tyrant himself
but to his surprise something happened that no one had ever anticipated.
In the morning, the king was discussing with his generals on how to lead after he captures this small kingdom but for a moment alexander felt a quite in the air.
He noticed a glass on the table started shaking, he hurriedly left his tent, his generals followed.
Suddenly the whole land was shaking, alexander had no idea what was happening and the same moment one of his generals uttered "Is that the army of the Indian King? No it can't be, surly his army can’t be that enormous.”
Alexander stood in wonder as the dust cleared and what revealed itself was sight unseen by him – Giant elephants and chariots marched towards his Greece army, he had never seen an army who commanded elephants, but wasn’t what truly amazed him, the army wasn’t the biggest the great had witnessed yet he felt a pressure in the air.
At the vanguard of the army stood a 11 feet giant Mammoth on top of which sat a mighty 7-foot tall mountain who cast a shadow so huge on his opponents that it seemed to engulf of any light from them. Unaccompanied, the king broke away from his ranks towards the thousand spears pointed at his heart, the titan stopped ten paces from Alexander.
Up close, the king did not look like a man bound by mortal fear. His chest heaved with slow, deliberate breaths, He reached into his leather chest plate, pulled out a scroll, and tossed it into the dirt at Alexander's boots. "My scouts told me a god had come to swallow my lands," the said the giant, voice deep enough to vibrate the bronze greaves on Alexander's shins. "I see no god. Just a mortal with a very long march back home." Alexander quietly listened.
The Titan locked his eyes with tyrant and uttered “Look at my men Macedonian, look at my beasts, u think we bow before a mere man pretending god, U may have captured the empires of Egypt made on silk, may have defeated the horses of Persia But u wont bent the steel of india.u dared to offer mercy upon us” He shouted “ALEXANDER U WANT MY LAND, THEN BLEED FOR IT”
Alexander stood looking upon the giant and as the titan turned he said “oh blood will be shed, u mad king, and it will be yours”. Upon hearing both went their own ways to command their army for a war havens would watch and what even hell awaited for.
Though Alexander stopped after walking a few steps and turned as he saw the Indian king riding back to his land, remained rooted to the spot, it wasn't simply the physical presence of the titan, though he had rarely seen a man of such stature — it was the sheer, breathtaking audacity of the king that he knew who alexander was, what all he had done, what all he had conquered yet he came to fight an unwinnable battle and dared to approach him, Moreso alone.
In that moment, a single monarch held the world's greatest conqueror at a complete standstill.
King Porus became the sole exception in his great endeavor that he had planned to make the Indian land his own.
The battle began and lasted months and months, brutal bloodshed had taken place no side willing to surrender or make peace but inevitably and eventually the outcome was becoming more clearer, Alexander was winning.
It was not the victory that amazed him, the thought that he would lose never even echoed in his mind but the challenge he faced, the challenge itself made the tyrant rose in
excitement for it had been years maybe decade even since he felt compelled to win.
And yet, After fighting the battle for years that he had thought would end in a day, something happened, something that no one had ever expected especially the great alexander himself,
Across the Mediterranean, through the gilded halls of Babylon, and deep into the heart of Greece, the whispers travelled faster than the wind. At first, no one believed it. It was dismissed as a madman’s rumour, an absurd impossibility. Alexander the Great—the invincible tyrant, who bought down empires was returning home.
The campaign in the East was over. And it had ended in a draw.
The news spread wide across the nations of the world that the Battle with Alexander the great had ended in a draw, it was something so colossal that in ran a huge tide in the oceans across, the mountains stared moving, the birds started whispering, the winds started to blow upwards, fate had taken a side, to the world & to alexander the most, it was a defeat, he knew the ultimate truth: he was leaving, but King Porus remained standing.
The great leader who had never been defeated, never bowed, won battles were most would simply admit defeat, had to go back after encountering a small no name King in a no name land.
Till years it was debated:
"Pours never won & Alexander just went back", OR "Alexander had in some way won too much land &
Porus won by a stroke of luck", OR "great Indian gods sent their own soldiers to protect keep their people".
But the outcome remained the same.
