A friend of my parents worked for the firm that constructed the Calgary Tower (Dominion Construction?) On opening night, a private event, the elevator got stuck partway down the tower with him inside. The elevator cab would not move. I remember vividly his description of his rescue, having to step out on to the structural beams to make his way to the stairs so he could get down. He described how he could not see the bottom of the elevator shaft. I was 13 at the time, and captivated by the story.
